I am 40 and don't do skincare but I think it is time. Any tips/recommendations?

I don't have an unlimited budget but I do have some birthday money.
I don't want to get anything really expensive though as it may not be affordable long term

Literally have no idea. Completely clueless.

Where do I start?

The ordinary has an affordable range of serums. I use hylaronic acid, ( for supple glowy skin) retinal ( for youthfulness) and niacimide (for blemishes) .

you can do a face mask once a week too!

cleanser and toner!

face cream ( i use Olay beauty fluid )

and spf spray!

What’s your skin like? Oily, dry, combination?

Personally I do:

Warm face flannel in the morning
Balm cleanser taken off with a warm flannel at night (I like Holy Hydration by ELF)
Serum - I spend most of my budget on serum and use a vitamin C serum in the morning, an Estée Lauder one at night
Moisturiser - a lotion with SPF in the morning, a thicker cream at night

The exact products will depend on your skin type but cleanse, serum, moisturise in the mornings and evenings is a good starting point.

I would keep it simple. The first decision is how much you actually want to be spending as it can get costly.

I would stick to a gentle face wash, a toner, serum and some face cream. Definitely add spf in the day and a more moisturizing night cream. You could try something like boots number 7.

Alternatively just add in a cream if you are already cleansing.depends how far you want to go. Sometimes it’s just a case of trying a few out and seeing how they suit your skin.

I love the No7 range 🙂 I also use full fat suncream underneath make up and moisturiser all year long

I use astral or nivea moisturiser. Have done for donkey's years. Wash face with clean flannel and fresh water, no soap or face cleansers. Smooth on moisturiser. Done. 63 and no visible wrinkles.

Nivea is also good in budget.

i use Beauty Pie vit C serum and moisturiser and my daughter always mentions when I go back to it, the first time I was using it she asked if I’d had Botox
But I think the most important thing is to decide on a routine and stick to it

Which serum do you use please? Theres a few vitamin c ones on the website.

Gem & Tonic

bizkittt I’ve checked and it’s actually the triple hyaluronic acid serum and super dose vitamin C moisturiser 😊

Hi yes I use this as my routine and my skin looks great, I’m nearly 60 so not expecting miracles but I am pleased with the results
