Does anyone get a regular salon fake tan?

IE for a continuous tanned look? How often do you go and how much do you end up spending?

Gawd it must cost a fortune !

I had a salon St Tropez for my wedding which cost £40. It lasted for about 3 days what with shaving, exfoliating and whatnot before it went patchy. For a 'continuous tanned look' I'd have to spend over £360 a month !

Hmm, fair enough! Just wondered if anyone actually did it!!

I use the Gok endorsed Ambre Solaire no streaks bronzer (the spray one). It is brilliant, easier, cheaper and quicker than a salon job with the added bonus of no paper knickers !

St Tropez do an everyday one now and I think it's brilliant.

But to answer your question I've never had a salon one done.

franch · 09/06/2008 11:40

How often do you top it up, Nom? I'm currently using the Dove moisturiser thingy which is very good, on the principle that I don't have to use body lotion AND fake tan, but I need to top it up most days

Also, the downside to salon ones is that they have 'guide colour' in them so that the person applying it can see where they've done and where they haven't. You will go home looking like you fell into a muddy orangy puddle. You can't shower it off until the next morning. I looked a right plum walking back to my car

ndp i use the ambre soliare spray thingy too

its great

i have a salon spray tan when its a special occasion only

woodenchair · 09/06/2008 11:46

I was just about to create a post about the ambre soliare spray thiny! I have a wedding on Saturday and have bought the face one. Do I just apply it on the day or should I put it on the day before?

NomDePlume · 09/06/2008 11:52

I do the Ambre Solaire one, just a light spritz all over (I have the separate facial one) every other day. I am doing in very gradual light layers so it takes a bit longer to build a tan, but it seems to be nice and even. I think that lots of gradual light layers are better than one big layer once a week or so.

woodenchair - I'd apply a v light layer of the facial one every day for about a week or so before the wedding.

woodenchair · 09/06/2008 11:58

Fab, does it get patchy? I normally use a cleansing clay mask and scrub a couple of days before a day out to minimise pores, do you think that would still be ok?

NomDePlume · 09/06/2008 11:59

The scrub would prob make it go a little patchy, yes. Perhaps it would be best to do the scrub 4 days before and then apply the spray for the 4 days.

woodenchair · 09/06/2008 12:06

I'll do that thanks!

franch · 09/06/2008 14:09

wooden - I have huge pores. What mask & scrub do you use?

I have a St Tropez spray tan once a week int eh summer - it lasts about 4- 5 days. It costs £15 per spary if you book a block of 6, so that's £60 a month. Extrvagant, but worth it for the short summer time we have here in the UK!

I use an all over body scrub (Clinique Sparkle Skin - it's not too heavy duty) & facial scrub (Clinique too) the day before and moisturise with baby oil gel straight ouit the shower. Then the morning of the spray tan I shower but don't moisturise or use any prodyucts at all (not even deoderant). I have the last appointment of the day (6pm) so I can nip home and hide away from the world while I am bright orange. Then shower in the monring and ahhhh...golden brown!

woodenchair · 09/06/2008 14:53

franch I use queen helene mask about once a week and a simple scrub a couple of days later. It seems to help keep the in check, stops them appearing so 'open' and smooths out the skin.

franch · 09/06/2008 15:05

Aha, so someone does do it! Will see how much our local place is - don't think I'll find anything as cheap as £15, that's good value.

Many thanks wooden
