Rucksack for boobs

BustPipes · 25/11/2025 12:27

Not to put them in, obvs.

Has anyone with big boobs found a laptop rucksack that sits comfortably?

I'm going to be walk commuting a couple of days a week into a new office soon (half hour walk each way, often rainy), and I would like a rucksack, rather than carrying my laptop in a bag over my shoulder. Every one I've tried, the straps either sit uncomfortably over my front (34GG) or sit at the sides and get pushed back off my shoulders by my boobs.

I've tried Google, but all I could find was big bags for hiking/camping - I'm after something fairly small and neat.

Hoping someone on S&B has found just the right thing...

i’ve got an osprey bag that’s good. Comfy on the back and not huge! www.osprey.com/gb/osprey-aoede-airspeed-20-f23?size=One+Size&colour=Antique+Blue

I'm not flat-chested by any means and I use Eastpak Pak'r.
Eastpak Padded Pak'R Backpack, 40 cm, 24 L, Black, TU : Eastpak: Amazon.co.uk: Fashion
I use a black one for work. It's big enough for a laptop, coat (pack-a-mac), lunch, makeup bag etc.
Doesn't look too scruffy or formal.
I have more than one, they work for me, and they are durable.

** Other companies sell them.

I can’t understand this issue at all but second the eastpak recommendation, looks like a good price in that link too.

TroubledBloodyMary · 25/11/2025 13:06

I know this isn’t what you’re asking but is it really not possible, in 2025, to have a laptop at work that communicates directly with your laptop at home, so you don’t have to carry one between two locations?

(I do sympathise - I hate carrying a laptop about and try to avoid it whenever possible.)

UpMyself · 25/11/2025 13:16

I carry a 17" laptop in mine, but I put it in a padded sleeve.

The other ones I have I use for things like shopping and gym.
The downside is that there isn't a water bottle pocket.

MidnightColours · 25/11/2025 13:20

The bigger Rains rolltop rucksack (£109) is the most comfortable laptop bag I've ever owned. It fits a lot of things but is compact and completely waterproof as well. Have used it for years on a London commute, even sometimes carrying an additional tote bag with shopping etc on one shoulder (works surprising well). As it's a bit of an investment, I would go to the shop with my laptop and other bits and ask to try it on with those things included.

Thanks all! Apologies for not proper responding to individual messages.

The Osprey and Rains ones look most stylish, but I'm not encouraged by the few pictures of straps - or fact that modelled by slim men! The Eastpak one looks worth a go for the price (am absolutely rubbish at returns), so I will try it - thank you.

Re not understanding the problem - lot of breast tissue, out of proportion to frame. It being squished is painful, and it comes out past my ribcage at the sides, so gets fighty with things that try to encroach.
Big boobed women spend their lives trying to find clothes that don't make them look like:
a) they're 'flaunting' or
b) they're obese
At the age of 50, I'm very used to and bored by that struggle. Was just hoping I could find a comfortable way to carry a laptop...

Re two laptops in different locations - that, of course, would be the sensible answer! Sadly, the world is ridiculous...

Sorry if that sounded grumpy, and thanks again everyone for their help. Just frustrating there is no magic solution!

It’s a nightmare having a rucksack with big boobs. I’ve never found one that’s comfortable and/or doesn’t look like I’m sticking my boobs out! I’ve given up and use a cross/body bag.

MidnightColours · 25/11/2025 22:04

OP, if you will be walking with a heavy(ish) backpack, think of buying one that is also made for that purpose, i.e that is properly padded and designed not to put too much strain on your back (one that sits flush against your back at the right height). Else, you run the danger of getting back and/or shoulder or even neck pain. I've walked (and ran..) with an unsuitable bag, and I'm wincing at the memory...
Based on this, Jack Wolfskin may be a good choice (in fact, I'll be checking it out!), but I would definitely try it before buying. Pictures can be deceiving and whether straps get in the way will very much depend on where they are located and their shape/length.
I know I'm going on and I apologise for that, but it's only because having the right bag has transformed my commute.
I'm a similar age to you (36E, in case this is relevant!).

scaredfriend · 25/11/2025 23:18

Ok it probably won’t win any style awards but this Decathlon rucksack is amazing. Loads of pockets, decent space for laptop, comfy straps etc. I have a 34F chest and it’s fine on me:

RampantIvy · 25/11/2025 23:28

This might sound like a mad idea, but would wearing a properly fitted bra help? You wouldn't get the breast tissue at the side, and it wouldn't get in the way of rucksack straps.

RuffledKestrel · 25/11/2025 23:51

I have the same problem. You are looking for bags that have "S" or "C" shaped/contoured straps - it's a phrase manufacturers use to say they have shaped the straps to be more ergonomic.
Its worth also getting measured up for a rucksack in a hiking shop, as if you have a long or short torso that can also be effecting where the straps sit. Bags that state they are "women's fit" generally have shaped shoulder straps too.

I have an ancient lowe pro bag that I use for work. It's a little 17l one but it holds enough for my stuff and my slim laptop. It's functional rather than stylish however.

RuffledKestrel · 25/11/2025 23:54

Also, i have never found any bra to help with it. Might be cause I'm a little overweight but I have very full boobs. No amount of squishing them into a bra reduceds the section that rubs against bag straps.

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 26/11/2025 08:06

It was me who didn’t understand the issue, I have big boobs myself (38H) but have never had rucksack problems - suggest as a PP said that the issue might be a crap bra rather than a crap rucksack

BlackberryAppleCrumble · 26/11/2025 08:12

Mia Tui are designed for women. I’m also big boobed and find my laptop rucksack from them comfy, and it stays on my narrow shoulders.

I also have an Osprey, but the straps do the side boob brush, which is ok with a coat but annoying in summer.

BustPipes · 26/11/2025 09:32

Thanks v much for the further suggestions - shall go looking! The curved strap on the Decathlon one looks hopeful.

And my bras fit fine ta - fitted at Bravissimo, middle bit sits flat against rib cage, no bulge at or over sides under arms. Very comfortable (favourite brand is Panache). I just have a small ribcage in proportion to my boobs - from the front, my boobs come out past it.

Unlikely that many employers would fund this. Or allow use of a second personal device.
Or maybe I've worked in the public sector with limited budgets and an abundance of security caution for too long 😁

Orogeny · 26/11/2025 13:32

@BustPipes
If you can't find a rucksack that suits you could try a bike courier's bag - they have a single cross body strap and a stabilising (and load-distributing) waist belt. No idea how well they'd work for walking, but they are designed for carrying heavyish loads and most would be big enough for a laptop. Usually sold as messenger bags or bike bags, reviews and links on many cycling websites if you do a search.

Needspaceforlego · 26/11/2025 13:40

Op I'd look at Rab / Lowe Alpine - ND range. (ND used to stand for a female named mountain before Rab changed it to Narrow Dimention) . or Osprey women.

I agree. Our IT team wouldn't approve this for security reasons either.
