How to dress when menopause triples your bra size and adds 2 stone

Good morning, I'm feeling very low today. I had a trip out to the theatre last night (Blood Brothers - amazing) and getting ready just brought home how little clothes I have and how crap I feel in the few things I do own.

Over the past couple of years I've gone from a size 12 to a size 14/16, but the biggest change has been my boobs which have gone from a 34DD to a 36H.Thank you menopause

I massively struggle to find anything I feel comfortable in, any tops and jumpers, I always feel like a big wall of boob up top. Or I have to get larger sizes to accommodate them and feel even bigger than I am.

I don't have a massive budget, but would love to have just a few basics, a decent pair of jeans, wide leg pants and some tops and knitwear that don't make me feel awful when wearing them.

I am meeting friends tomorrow for lunch and another show and at this point I just don't want to go. Can anyone advise where to look or how to dress when you're top heavy or suggest some items? Thank you 👚👗👖

I had no idea that menopause inflated your boobs like a hot air balloon!
Def hasn't happened for me, mine feel like they've shrunk. But that's only because my waist has expanded so I've just had to get used to being a totally different shape.

I think v necks, wrap styles and scoop necks do look better but they really don't seem popular at the moment, do they?
All I seem to see are crew necks and round necked cardigans.
(Honestly though I don't hate my new shape. Being very hourglass made it harder to get clothes to fit, now I'm alot less curvy stuff just hangs better).

V necks are good strategy until one’s throat and chest start resembling the prize turkey in the poulterer’s window.

Ask me how I know. 🤬

I find you can still benefit from the visual effect if you wear a v neck layered over a round neck top to cover the turkey.

Personally, at 53 menopausal and growing by the minute I turned to Wegovy and the gym. Now back near my pre-kids weight and shape for less than the cost of a whole new wardrobe.

@Peachypips78 Sorry missed this:

The triumph bras were: LADYFORM SOFT
Minimizer bra (currently much reduced) - It's like a 1950s proper bit of underwear and I love it! Pulls in at the side and gives a lovely natural, but hoisted up a bit shape. https://uk.triumph.com/triumph-all-styles/ladyform-soft/10166306.html?color=6106_Smooth%20Skin

And the Essential Minimiser - which didn't fit quite so perfectly - a ittle gappy at the top, but I perhaps should go down a cup size. - it's really hard to tell.

I tried the Doreen too, but it wasn't for me.

I am also a 16 that used to be a 12/14 despite no changes (except more exercise). I recently bought two pairs of the wide legged M&S trousers (in denim and black) mentioned on this thread and another one. Today I wore those with trainers, a Breton, a scarf and a cashmere loose jumper and I felt nice but also comfy. I can’t wear anything tight anymore.

I feel the same, I have some lovely clothes that I’ve held on to, you know, for when I diet… do I just admit defeat and do a mass charity shop clear out? My fear is I just keep expanding 🤣

Me too - it’s miserable when I’ve always been a reasonable 12ish pear and now I'm a 16 blob as my boobs and waist have puffed out. I have some lovely clothes that I don’t went to get rid of as I don’t want to admit I’m like this forever. Really don’t want WLI but seem stuck with the extra 2stone. The only thing I can suggest which vaguely helps is to wear the size you are. Nothing worse than a squeezed in with muffin top look to make you feel worse. I’ve ended up searching for clothes I really like (and already have) in bigger sizes on Vinted, so I don’t feel like I have a completely new wardrobe
