Can anyone recommend anything to help my hair grow/thicken up?

I was on Mounjaro for a few months and my hair has gone SO thin, it’s been falling out so much ☹️ I had a blood test done ordered by the GP and they found I’m low on iron and folate so they prescribed iron and folic acid. But in the meantime, is there anything I can use to encourage my hair to grow back? 😢

Low iron is a huge cause of hair loss. Be aware that on rpt blood test, ferritin can be marked as ‘normal’ as low as 20, but ferritin needs to be above 70 for healthy hair growth.
Low B12 & low vitamin D can also cause hair loss so might be worth getting a good all round vitamin too. I’m assuming they also tested thyroid?
Prescription iron is awful tbh iron bisglycinate has better bioavailability and less gastrointestinal side effects.

You can’t rush it unfortunately, but something like Tigi bed head Small Talk volume sing styling cream (on offer on Amazon for £6.48 atm) can give a huge boost in volume whilst you are waiting.

Weight loss it’s self causes hair loss, your hair has to adapt to your shrinking scalp, once your weight stabilises, it will grow again. Keep up with the vitamins, a cut instantly thickens the ends.

I agree with PP that taking supplements can really improve hair quickly. Iron, Vitamin B complex, Vitamin D and Biotin. You can buy Hair & Nail multivitamins too. I notice my hair looks better within a few days when I remember to take them.

Incidentally if NHS iron causes constipation, switch to Floradix or Ferroglobin capsules or liquid, both of which are kinder on the digestive system but work brilliantly to boost iron levels.

I've also started eating breakfast cereals again. Not currently seen as healthy but they have a lot of added vitamins. A bowl of Rice Krispies has plenty of B complex vits in it. With whole or semi-skimmed milk and a scoop full of frozen berries or half a sliced banana, it's nutritionally healthy for your hair.

Ooh I forgot to add I started taking a multivitamin and a hair/skin/nails vitamin daily months ago. I also take a daily collagen supplement. I’m not really sure if they’re having much effect though.

iim also on MJ. Ive been taking biotin and B complex vit for two months and no change. Ive tried rosemary oil and kerastase serum: no change. I think it is not all about hair loss but also about hair breakage. I find john freda frizz ease helpful (straight blond hair) somewhat helpful. It does reduces breakage and less frizz but my hair are a bit parched/stiff after it (doesnt matter so much as i tie them up) but i definitely have less fallen hair on my jumper/cardigan during the day and thats a win.

Take Spatone iron supplements and vitamin c. Biotin can help but it makes me feel sick so watch that.

Don’t waste your money on hair products that just sit in top of your existing hair, they will do nothing at all to actually grow new hair! Topical minoxidil is worth a try however.

I’ve been using glow for it hair growth serum that I bought on TikTok and I’ve got new baby hair growing. Might be a coincidence but I feel better for addressing it anyway. Was about £25 I think.
