Help with upper lip hair removal

Marbles29 · 14/11/2025 13:55

I have a small amount of fine upper lip hair mainly at the corners of my mouth... they're not super dark but definitely not fair. I used to Jolen bleach them which helped but I wear foundation everyday and I find it is still noticeable.
I have tried hair removal cream but it makes my skin sting and I'm paranoid its making it worse.
I am looking into electrolysis.. but I can't seem to figure out how much it costs. I know laser hair removal can be in the thousands so I'm reluctant to approach a salon as that wouldn't be possible for me. But i'm sure a small area would be less?
Anyone got any experience of this?

I’d just wax it

I have a similar, small amount and just shave it! You could pluck or wax but it would be rather painful.

There are newer lasers, but the older ones only work with fair skin and dark hair. You might not need that many sessions. A friend was training and I was a guinea pig in the salon for her to practice. I only had 1 session, but I now only had about 3 under arm hairs every since! Many salons show their prices online, otherwise, why not just phone them to enquire?

I ended up buying a braun IPL. It wasn't as good as the salon laser at all, but handy to do all the bits you want at home.

I would wax it, either professionally or at home with facial wax strips.
Electrolysis on fine downy hair would be time consuming as you have to treat each hair individually. You usually pay for a block of treatment time, so it would be costly to treat lots of fine hairs, plus it can take a long time to be effective as the hair has to be in a certain stage of its growth cycle.
Laser wouldn’t be thousands on just an upper lip area, but likely would be in the hundreds. I believe a course of 6 treatments is average. You could always go for a consultation, laser is most effective on dark hair so yours may or may not be suitable for laser.

I have the same type of hair on my upper lip and get it threaded at the same time as my eyebrows. I'm always happy with the results, they seem to last a long time. It's a little bit stingy but only takes a few seconds if you can find someone good

best £3 I ever spent. Just bend it and kind of roll over the area.

I have mine waxed at a salon around every six weeks.

I use the facial head on my epilator, knacks but it's over quickly
