I have this dress to wear to a wedding next month.
I have zero shoes suitable for occasional wear.
I have a bad back and arthritis feet so can't wear anything like the model.
Budget approximately £50 give or take need to order online as too unwell to go into town.
Any advise or suggestions please?

Metallic flats?
Have a look at ballroom dancing shoes as they will have a snug fit around the back of the heel and over the instep offering better support.

As someone with similar issues, I would wear boots or trainers. If boots probably lace ups , or knee highs because they area bit dressier, if trainers then a colourful Adidas type . If that would make you self conscious then you may need to spend more money to get properly supportive shoes. Vionics are good. I love the dress. I absolutely will not sacrifice my health at the altar of appropriare footwear for women. It’s all bollocks.

Ilike these from Celtic &co , but would probably wear the brown dude knee high boots I have already

OopsieeDaisy · 13/11/2025 23:12

Some gold flats would look lovely! I’ve seen a few people mention the fitflop ones or Next also do some nice ones.

GrumpyNovember · 14/11/2025 02:21

Are you ladies being serious about the boots? I can't vision it. I did have an idea of knee boots (because I do want some new ones following a weight loss)
I have some gold dolly bars.
I'm not going and funky enough to wear trainers at my friend's wedding.

Boots are too heavy imo.

Can you wear a low heel?

Aixellency · 14/11/2025 06:58

Depends … Do you need a lot of foot support? If not, and if you can wear something absolutely flat then how about these:

M&S ballet flats

If you need more structure, something like these:

M&S Mary Janes

or:

M&S brogues also in silver.

These are all M&S because I don’t know anywhere else that would suit your budget, unless you’re sourcing pre-owned.

GrumpyNovember · 14/11/2025 08:20

When I say arthritis only really minor in my toes once I've been in heeled shoes a while so don't really need too much of a structure.

I have sore feet also, and got some very comfortable Mary Janes from Pavers for a wedding in the summer. So good, im going to buy more in another colour. Theyre online too.

I have these and wore it for dancing recently. Very comfy and like you I cannot wear heels. Always go out in trainers (I wear Brooks wide fit). You can always wear them for half the event and then change into what you normally wear.
