Considering trying Tret … some questions

Okay, humour me - please! I’ve been thinking about trying Tret for ages now but an ad offering the first 3 months of Dermatica at 50% off has just popped up on a thread I was reading and might just draw me in! I have some questions though.

Firstly, the subscription is monthly but I’ve read you can change the next order date and thereby stretch them out a bit. I guess for how long depends on how many nights a week you use it. Are you all on 4/6 weeks or longer and how many nights are you applying it?

What other products do you use at night aside from cleanser and moisturiser - both on Tret and non-Tret nights. I’m using Medik8 Press & Glow and will stop using it but I like to use something after a double cleanse and before moisturising. I don’t especially want to use that, in particular, and on Tret nights, I imagine just cleanse, Tret, moisturise but what about the other evenings? Do you use any serums or peptides .. both on T and not T evenings?

Okay, I shouldn’t even be asking this one but please be honest! Do you really use SPF every single day, even when it’s mid-winter? Yep, I know all about rays but I also know how undisciplined I can be and if I’m in a rush, well, spf is first to be ditched!

Finally, is it worth it, does it really make a difference? I don’t have any major skin concerns bar ageing, so fine lines, deep frown lines are my problem - plus loss of volume but don’t think Tret can fix that!

Spf is really important every day. I got myself in the routine of daily sunscreen before trying tret to make sure I could manage it. I kind of just link it with teeth brushing, then I never forget. I am not certain but I think the risks are sunburn eand skin cancer even in low uv levels so not really worth risking.

Thanks ... I figured it would be a non-negotiable!! It really is just building a habit.

Anyone else with words of wisdom?

I use skin&me but basically the same. To start with you will only usually use it a few times a week and gradually build up to every day. I use it everyday and even though I've been using it for about 3 years I occasionally get dryness and peeling so I stop for a day or two to have a break. Skin&me is easy to pause or you can move the delivery date to a future date. You can keep doing that indefinitely. Im a skincare junky so use loads of serums and stuff but would say really the only other products you need are spf 50 everyday, even in winter and a vitamin c serum.

My Dermatica tubes last me the best part of two months and I apply nightly.

Absolutely apply SPF50 every day or you're undoing your efforts. I like the La Roche Posay Anthelios Immune. It comes in a small bottle but lasts ages so I keep one in my handbag, one in the car etc in case I forget. But I mostly just put it on straight away after I moisturise in the morning.

Flibbertyfloo · 14/11/2025 19:47

Also, absolutely worth it for me. 3 years in I look about 5 years younger than I did when I started. I showed a new colleague my before photos the other day and she was genuinely shocked. She clearly wasn't just being polite as she was accidentally quite rude about how bad I looked before 😀

SPF50 every day for me.

Dermatica containers last longer than a month even using every night.

I use mine every night. I stick at 0.05 even though I've been on it years. I use CeraVe PM on top.

I love the way even though I'm ageing (nearly 50) my skin always looks bright and glowy.

Hydrate as much as possible. I’ve worked up to just cleansing then tret onto clean skin then in the morning I use snail mucin toner, serum and cream my skin loves it and never looked better.
non tret nights(about 2 a week) I use the snail mucin set then a thicker moisturiser liberally and let it all soak in before bed.
I have an area of hyper pigmentation and it’s fading fairly quickly. Skin just looks plumper and fresher but I do get Botox for all the main wrinkle areas.
SPF really is necessary I hated it to start but now it’s just another part of my routine.

you might get breakouts or dry flaky skin which is fairly normal when you start out. You’ll find a regime that works for your skin.

Thanks all … this is all really useful and good to know. I think all I would need to add to my routine for now is Vitamin C (and dust off the sunscreen) - have Medik8 Liquid Peptides and Snail serum on the go so it sounds as though they won’t be wasted. Hoping for a skin transformation in the coming months!

You also want to use vaseline at the corners of your eyes, the edges of your lips and any irritated buts if skin on your hands as tret travels quite a bit.

SportingConnection · 15/11/2025 10:07

Dermatica have been brilliant with me, changing my prescription when I suddenly had the most awful, virus related acne. The new prescription cleared my skin in 5 days (after 3 months of me struggling).

Treat has been fantastic for clear, bright skin.

The service Dermatica offers is so good.

I never use the full tube. I use it most evenings. It is so easy to delay each tube through your account.

I follow threads on here too. This one is quite detailed. Discount link, in here too. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/_chat/5160597-has-anyone-tried-dermatica?reply=142297309

Has anyone tried Dermatica? | Mumsnet

Overheard a lady sitting next to me at the hairdressers talking about Dermatica and saying great things about its products & her monthly subscript...

Thanks @Geneticsbunny and @SportingConnection .. will stock up on vaseline and good to see more positive reviews for Dermatica. I had a pop-up on a thread the other day to use code Mumsnet to get 50% off for the first 3 months which seems a good deal. Shall have a look at the linked thread too, thank you.

i saw something about the sandwich method? I think it’s moisturising before and after applying tret. Has anyone tried that?

UmberMoose · 15/11/2025 12:17

SPF is a must irrespective of tret. Here goes my routine if you would be interested:
Morning:
Using water to wash your face,
Sebamed clear face gel,
Garnier spf
Cicaplast
Evening:
LRP moisturizer,
Tretinoin (0.1) from skinorac
Sebamed clear facial gel
