Why do some people seem averse to the idea of using suncream?

I have seen much pink flesh today . Why? Surely most people must realise that their skin is frazzling?

Please, put on some SPF 15.

well when I left to go to town at 3pm it was dark, cloudy and cold (not to mention threatening to piss it down with rain), by the time I got back we were all roasted as it suddenly got really hot and sunny!

sophierosie · 07/06/2008 19:52

Where are you? I've been in wellies all day!

expatinscotland · 07/06/2008 19:58

I don't use it on anything but my face, and that's only because I'm pregnant just now and don't want to get those ugly brown patches.

Otherwise, I usually use nothing.

I have fairly light skin, but it is very yellow/olive in undertone and tans easily.

I don't find the sun very strong here at all.

DH has to be reminded to use it. He is blonde and blue eyed and as a result his neck is all pink .

The girls I slather in it, even though DD2 is even darker than I am, DD1 is the colour of a milk.

loons. My sister is 2 years younger than me, looks 5 years older and I'm sure it's a combo of her never using more than factor 4 (I use factor 20 usually) and smoking until recently.
I do think some people just forget though. Dh was burnt last weekend as I didn't remind him until after he'd been outside in the sun for a couple of hours

expatinscotland · 07/06/2008 20:25

some people don't get wrinkled or aged, though, shopping, as easily as very white or fair people.

i'm 37 and don't have wrinkles or sun damage.

but, as i said, my skin is olive.

DeeRiguer · 07/06/2008 20:26

ah the rays, its them rays i tell you
its factor 40 here no arguments
have burnt once or twice its no picnic
ds very fair and i like my skin not leather

chonky · 07/06/2008 20:27

My dh is the same expat - he's incredibly fair and needs SPF 50+ I nag him senseless about it.

It just amazes me that people seem intent on getting the oil and bacofoil out still(well, that's what it looks as though they've done ).

We're in the South West sophierose.
