DD want short hair but I like scared of going too short need ideas

DD hair has been in a short inverted bob (think what it's called) since last summer. It's getting longer and she's wanting it cut again, in a boys cut, but in the same time I don't want to look like boy. I thing she's worried about been teased.
She is a bit of a tom-boy and likes boy clothes made hard by the fact she also has a very girly side to her.
Any help as I can picture a neat pixie-style cut but she can't and really wants an idea of a nice short cut before she goes to the hair dresser.

I don't really want to post a pic of dd on here tbh but she has thick, dark hair cut a bit like Audrey Tautou's in this gallery. It's a hard cut to describe but sort of messy Audrey Hepburn. She has big eyes and an impish face so can carry it off.

DD has pretty straight hair and fine fly away hair but having said that their is a lot of it.
With what I would call a neat face and very girly looking, prefect for short hair.
