Please help me find some clothes to disguise the dreaded overhang ...

Admittedly I'm only 2 weeks past c/section but my tummy is beyond a joke - I look like I'm about 5/6 months pregnant and have been told that this will take some months to reduce, esp given that my rectus abdominus (?sp) muscle has split.

Soooo ... how do I disguise my big belly? At the moment I'm wearing maternity jeans or tracksuit bottoms but would like some ordinary trousers to move into in the next few weeks. Tops are a nightmare ... waaay too short, with the exception of Isabella Oliver maternity tops. Ordered a heap of tops from Fat Face, White Stuff and Next. There are maybe 1 or 2 next tops suitable but they still make me look pregnant . What shape of clothes should I be looking for and where?

It took me about 10 weeks to get back into ordinary jeans with my first two sections but this time I've had twins and been left with a much bigger belly so all advice will be much appreciated.

TIA

what about a longer top like the ones on the 4 pages \link[http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/category_10001_10001_17661_-1\here?}

oope here

Thanks for replying Furball . I feel like I've spent the last 24 hrs with one or other baby stuck to my breast so am sneaking a few minutes away now!

Those are the sort of tops I had thought would work and the type of styles which I ordered from Next ... and which don't disguise my tummy but make me look like I'm still expecting . Might be worth ordering one or two to try on though in slightly different styles.

Anyone have any suggestions about trousers too please.

TIA

What sort of size are you? It might be worth trying some wide legged linen trousers with a drawstring, so you can make them as loose as you need, and tighten them up as you start to lose the belly.

when i was gigantic pp the best things were a sort of exaggerated version of what i'd normally wear, so wider legged trousers than normal and slightly baggier but still fitted tops.

Thanks ladies ... some good ideas. I'm usually a 10 so the linen trousers sound like a good option. Hopefully tomorrow the babies will be more settled and I might get a chance to do some surfing and see if I can find some. I bought a pair of Sweaty Betty tracksuit bottoms this week and they're a real find ... really comfy to wear but tbh they're just for around the house. Cod ... is the White Stuff top fitted? Shall have another look at their catalogue.

Gotta run again as DT2 is looking for her favourite source of comfort ... something tells me that another looong night looms ahead!

Ta!

I bought a lovely semi fitted shirt dress from Hennes which i wear over a pair of knee length legging and wedges. Hides the belly!

How about something like this?

this is also nice and would suit your purpose.

or maybe this? Over black or white skinny jeans or black leggings would be nice.

Trousers like these maybe? High waisted so will keep everything in.

Or, a skirt like this?

SilentTerror · 08/06/2008 17:25

white stuff and Fat Face do great tunicy tops that dont make you look pregnant, and linen trousers seem to hold bellies in.
well,mine anyway!

Thanks everyone ... I'm off to do more surfing & searching. I sense a couple more orders looming ... shall have to hide the evidence from DH !! The search is on for the perfect trousers ... my challenge for this evening if the DTs give me some time off!

Hi HoochieMomma ... I shall duck in and say hello but the thread moves too fast for me ... I can't keep up!!

Okay ... how about these ... will they disguise the tummy or isn't there enough fabric?
