Collagen?

I have adverts for this popping up on my FB feed left right and centre. 56 and could do with a boost. Is it really the wonder product that the adverts claim it is or a fad? Does anyone take it and has seen a difference? Which brand?

@TheNeighboursComplain how much do you take of the Nutrition Geeks one? Mine arrived today and it says 2 tablespoons which feels a bit much to dissolve into a cup of coffee.

I split it over 2 hot drinks. I could taste it when I did 2 tablespoons in 1 drink! So I do 1 tablespoon at breakfast time, then another tablespoon later in the morning.

I use Nutrition Geeks, can I see a difference, not sure. I think it helps along with Mounjaro, Jude (for bladder) diet and exercise (losing 4 stone) and the Luxcove face thing. I would say my aches have gone, I look good. But I am not sure it is any one thing.
I take the 6 tea spoons in my tea every morning.

What's the difference between the two types of collagen and how long did you take them for before you saw an improvement- especially in the aches and pains?

Apparently type 1 and 3 (which is in the powdered forms that is put in hot drinks) is mainly for hair/nails/skin. Type 2 is a single daily tablet, and that's mainly for joints. I think that's maybe why you don't get all 3 types in a single product because volume-wise, the amount of type 2 you take is so much less than 1&3?

I was about 5-6 months in when my hairdresser noticed the difference in my hair. My joints took a bit longer - about 7-8 months.

Thanks... My second drink is usually black tea and I can't see it mixing well in that. Hmmm, was hoping hi just get away with one scoop.

I really need the benefits of this. I am in my fifties with rubbish hair, nails and achy joints. My caution is that the link with breast cancer has not been proven either way, it is ‘inconclusive’ I believe. So that’s put me off so far as the pros would not outweigh the cons.

Do any of you have up to date info on this? Hope it’s not a de-rail, and you can tell me to go away of course.

Elavate is a nice drink in itself. You take two teaspoons and it just tastes exactly like hot chocolate.

It also has other things in it like vitamin c and lionsmane.

What's the luxcove face thing? Thanks

I'm following this as I thought I may have fallen for a bit of a scam.

Lots of people around me raving about collagen, so I start it, then I realise the majority of those people are on WLI, and taking it alongside for avoidance of 'Ozempic face', so I felt a bit of a fool, like I'd tried to join a club i wasn't invited to.

I've just finished my first bag of Nutrition Geeks and I feel no different and my morning coffee smells like beef

I know but it's really expensive and I've bought Nutrition Geeks now.

Mine goes in tea ... it completely dissolves

Been using ancient and brave bovine and nutrition geeks marine. It’s been two years now and I haven’t noticed any difference. If anything my hair is weaker and thinner! I was reading an article (think it was the guardian) that said it’s all a bit snake oil. I think improving my diet and eating more protein would probably be a better bet, but was looking for a lazy way out!

HelenHywater · 14/11/2025 12:34

Which Nutrition geeks powder do you take @TheNeighboursComplain ?

ThisAmpleFawn · 14/11/2025 13:10

So, 56 slightly overweight and arthritic.... Did the research, decided I was sceptical, but did it anyway. Ancient and Brave, tried Elevate but I could taste it and quite frankly got annoyed with their marketing. 6 months on nothing with the joint pain or energy grrrr... BUT I have had multiple people commenting on my skin (started about 2 months ago) and I have not changed my skin care regime. So I will continue... Rather like the complements, it's been a while...

Shegotanology · 14/11/2025 13:18

I took Ancient&Brave for just over a year. I honestly didn't see a difference. My hair still fell out, my skin still looked crap and my joints still ached. Expensive snake-oil.
