Hi-vis that looks good - does this exist?

DH and I recently moved to a rural area to be closer to his parents and where he grew up.

I really underestimated how much we'd spend walking along the side of the road - we need to do this to access the only local footpath that's suitable for running (others have too many gates for it to be worth it) and to get to the pub, which is in the next village.

I know I need something hi-vis or similar, but I'm struggling to find a style that doesn't look overly lollipop lady. A lot of the sportier styles marketed as "reflective" are still in darker colours and therefore not much use to me at 3pm on a grey, drizzly day.

Ideally it should be a light jacket that holds up to the rain, is suitable for running, and that I can layer other things under.

Hoping someone has solved this problem before me... thanks in advance!

You could try something like the Proviz Reflect360 running jacket — it’s genuinely hi-vis even in daylight and fully reflective in low light, plus waterproof but light enough to layer.
Other good options are Endura Luminite or Altura Nightvision — both come in bright colours without the “lollipop lady” look.

I just wear a running light over my coat for commuting. There are dozens of them for about £15/20 on Amazon.

When I ran with a group in the evenings in winter we'd wear hi vis vests, headtorch and running light. Everyone looked like sensible runners, not school crossing patrol.

@ForestAtTheSea that's super interesting, thank you.

Thanks to everyone who has made suggestions and given advice, hugely appreciated!

I've decided to buy a vest from gofluo, although I might also ask DH for a proviz jacket for Christmas (the one that has neon on the body and reflective material on the sleeves). In the meantime I've been wearing one of those cheap vests that we bought to keep in the car.
