Fed up now with creased eye shadow and disappearing eyeliner eye primer required

Now the weather is warmer am not wearing a full face of slap only problem is without usual layers my eye shadow creases and my eyeliner has turned into a greasy smudge by lunch time. Find this quite annoying especially as rest of my face has dry skin!

Think what I need is an eye primer. Can anyone recommend something that actually works, hitting the shops tomorrow with toddler in tow so need to cut down shopping time.

Thanks

Can you get primer specifically for the eye area? I'm a bit of a primer novice.

havingaschoolcrisis · 06/06/2008 14:53

Clinique do an excellent one. I was very sniffy about the point of them until I was given a free sample of it, it really works. Have bought a full size tube now, I think it will last me the rest of my life

Urban Decay primer potion is fab.

FrannyandZucchini · 06/06/2008 17:08

lemonaid does seem quite good
i personally find if you take all the way up to eyebrow as recommended it makes you look a bit plastic, and also dries out skin round eyes
but I have old dry wrinkly eyelids probably
it's good on the actual eyelid bit itself

fishie · 06/06/2008 17:08

i have lemon aid, it all vanishes into creases in about 2 hours. mac eyeshadow does stay and their primer is fantastic too. i also use benefit shelaq which keeps my eyeliner in place.

JemimaBear · 06/06/2008 17:19

There is some ingredient in Lemonaid apparently that's not v good for you - sorry, a bit vague. Apparently not meant for everyday use as a result.

No7 (boots), shine free is pretty good for eyes and whole face, IMHO.

here

firstmum45 · 06/06/2008 18:33

wow thanks for all the tips esp not using too much moisturiser. I do tend to put plenty of eye cream on as it plumps up my saggy eyes (48 year old skin )for the day maybe I should use a bit less in the summer.

i've used the laura mercier one & it was fine. i didn't buy it though.

wingandprayer · 06/06/2008 18:40

Mac do brilliant eye primer that is foundation coloured so evens out skin tone and creates lovely matt nude eyes look if you just wear it on it's own without eye shadow on top.

That's of course if they don't mind selling it to you as a mummy and not some bright young trendy teenage thing

chonky · 06/06/2008 19:34

ANother vote for Lemon Aid tis fabulous

JemimaBear · 06/06/2008 21:07

Sorry all I can recall is that there is some ingredient (metallic maybe) in Lemonaid - this is all from a sister who did a make up course with Jemma Kidd and apparently it was said that Lemonaid shouldn't be used every single day. I prob shouldn't have said anything without being able to explain it properly. Will ask sis.

Mavornia · 06/06/2008 22:11

The holy grail of eye primers is Benefit's F.Y..Eye! It's amazing - I live in the Middle East and when the rest of my make up is sliding down my neck, my eyeshadow remains immaculate all day

Lemon Aid is good too but I think it's better for covering up any redness/purpleness which can sometimes affect the eyelids as we get older

F.Y...Eye would definitely be my first port of call

Mavornia · 06/06/2008 22:37

forgot to say, try gel eyeliners - they really don't budge

Bobbi Brown and Mac do nice ones
