A nice dress with a jacket. Probably a maxi dress.

SayLessPan · 01/11/2025 21:00

Yup - long knitted dress (not a dull sweater shape, something that flows to the ankle) and (ideally) a cropped leather bomber jacket. Flat pointy boots.

Blue jeans, white shirt, knitted jumper + a coat and leather shoes. Dresses makes me feel dressy and uncomfortable, unless it’s summer.

Thanks all

Like the sound of this - have you seen any nice ones?

I’d wear a nice shift dress, tights, ankle boots, nice coat… maybe even fur coat depending on time of year x

DD is a musical theatre nut so we often go up to London for this and need to dress/pack for at least 2”3 days because we make a weekend of it. I tend to go for jeans, boots and a smart top and jacket (or coat) or a dress with opaque tights and boots with a coat/jacket. As a short arse I usually wear above the knee dresses

A solid-colored black short skirt, paired with a pearl necklace and black high heels

I don’t think much efforts needs going into the theatre as no one really sees you for most of it. I’d do a statement coat and thats as much as I’d think about it 😂😂

fruitypancake · 06/11/2025 09:59

Thanks everyone , yes I don’t think it’s as dressy as it once was but is nice to get a bit dressed up

Agree - think it’s a nice reason to get dressed up.

anon2022anon · 06/11/2025 14:37

I went last week and and got dressed up, a oriental style maxi dress and a long coat. Why not! Don't get enough excuses to do it.

It's not the dress I wore, but I recently got this from tk Maxx and I like it, wore it the other weekend with flats and a short suede coat and liked the outfit

HundredMilesAnHour · 06/11/2025 14:52

I tend to wear smart but funky trousers with a fitted top underneath a nice shirt (so Yacco Maricard or similar) or silk blouse and a well-cut jacket/blazer so I can layer or de-layer depending on theatre temp. Usually worn trainers so comfy/practical for walking / travelling. Never wear jeans to the theatre though as I think that’s too scruffy even though the majority of theatre goers seem very dressed down these days.

I love dressing up for the theatre. Nice top, lovely coat and bag
