Brown ankle boots, not too chunky not too frumpy

I need to replace my ancient JL brown brogue ankle boots. I've lived in them for the last two winters but I can't find anything to replace them with. I've tried some Jones ones... too high and dig in when I walk. Tried some Pikolinos ones... too tight and squashed my little toes. Tried some Gabor ones... not brogues and the very plain front looks like wellies when worn with jeans.

I'm not normally this fussy! I'm after brown ankle boots for a size 6. DMs a bit too chunky. Camper ones recommended elsewhere don't have a grippy sole. I don't want suede as my maintenance skills are limited. My current boots have a zip as well as laces and I'd like that again.

Budget is around £150. Any genius S&B-ers out there?

Moshulu were my go to but the price has risen significantly in the last year. I was desperate and unable to spend any time researching other options so I paid. I’m not sure if it’s worth it. They aren’t quite as comfy as before.

Does anyone rate Pikolinos' ankle boots?

I had some boots which sound very like yours (brogue detailing, laces plus zip) from Clarks. When they finally collapsed last year, I found similar in White Stuff.

Also a big fan of Pikolinos. If you’ve found them tight, then try going up a size. They have a « scan your foot » thingy on their website that tells you what size will be tight, balanced, or comfy for you.

I have several pairs and can even wear their heeled boots all day without pinching. They provide great footbed support and look great.

Look at Carvela, I’ve just bought a pair & they are the extremely comfortable. There’s lot of 20 per cent off codes around and there was 40 per cent off on blue light

Just saw this thread after scouring the internet today for exactly the same thing and finally going to the shops and buying them.
I bought Clarks Orinoco 3 top in dark brown leather. Absolutely perfect classic pull on Chelsea boots. Not too chunky. Not too flimsy. Just right. £90. And £10 off if you buy them online. (I couldn’t be bothered to wait after trying them on in store). And wide fit is available.
I have them in black from 5 years ago in a a very slightly different style so know they last.

I really appreciate all the suggestions and have gone through each one. I've just ordered another pair (this is now number 6 eek) and fervently hope they will be ok.

Try Clarks, Hotter, Rieker or Dune - look for genuine leather bullock ankle boots with side zippers and LACES, and rubber anti-slip outsoles (Clarks/Hotter often have wide lasts and cushioning soles, suitable for long walks).
When screening, choose "genuine leather", "side zipper", "rubber outsole/grip". If the front foot is squeezed, check if there is a wide/E size or walk around more on the day of trying to judge the comfort level.
