Help! Spilled milk inside bag

I often bring one of those Sistema microwave bowls to work with me, with porridge in so that I can eat breakfast a bit later.

Somehow, the seal of the bowl leaked and milk spilled all over the inside of my bag. It's a Radley Furze Lane which is leather with a satiny lining. The lining itself was saturated with milk and it has leeched through to the leather beyond it.

Is there any way of cleaning it or am I going to have to throw it away?! I'm not only concerned about the liquid damage but also the potential smell!

Any tips gratefully received! (Not including ones that say, don't put containers in your bag that have milk in them... )

Is the milk dry? If not, mop up what you can then sprinkle table salt or bicarb over it to absorb it.

Is it the Tote?

You coukd hard scrub the silk and leather with bio washing powder in warm water. The silk will likely need a few scrubs. The leather will likely always hold the stain. Put it in the open air for several days. If the silk holds the smell and milk is a bugger on something that can't go in a long machine cycle, you may have to cut it out.

You will have a perfect sized bag for your dusters for the rest of your life.

I'm sorry @Oblongofdreams

Not sure about cleaning but there's no point crying.

Don't rub or scrub silk.

Thanks all. I stuffed the bag with about a whole roll of kitchen roll, to try and mop up as much liquid as possible. That did get the surplus out at least, although it was still behind the lining.
A colleague has suggested putting a container of dry rice inside it and zipping it up for a couple of days to absorb any leftover moisture, so I'm going to try that before I do anything more drastic.
I'm not so concerned about staining, as it was only the interior of the bag, but it was more the dampness and the smell I was worried about.
I'll give it a few days anyway and reassess!

Oh yes rice in the bag and put it in the airing cupboard loke with a phone dropped in a pool. The milk might make the airing cupboard reek though.
