How to fix my hair?

I am naturally brunette, albeit very dark. I had highlights for 2 years, before making the very rash and stupid decision to box dye it almost black nearly a year ago now. I want it blonde again, is this going to be possible? I know a consultation at a salon is my best bet atm, but curious to know the process I'd be facing to have the box dye stripped and have it bleached again. How long does it take and will it be orange for a while?

How much regrowth have you had since the box dye? I would have thought a lot of it has faded and grown out by now?

In which case you might just need a bit of a cr to get rid of the rest from your ends, then you're back to your natural hair colour.

Otherwise there's chemical colour stripping to remove the dye, then probably a good conditioning treatment before any new hair colour.

Oh sorry I probably should have clarified, I have been using the box dye regularly for around a year now, last application just a few weeks ago.

Would the stripping remove all previous colours on there too, so it would just leave my natural colour underneath it all?

Is the stripping done all in one go, so just one visit to the salon for that? Or is it a lengthy process?

Yes the colour stripping is meant to remove all the dye. It helps release the dye molecules out of the hair and not meant to alter your natural colour, provided it all comes out.

I did it myself on dark chocolate brown to go back to my light brown. I bought colour stripper in boots .
It involved a lot of rinsing and smelt awful, but then my sister had it done at a salon and also involved a lot of rinsing and smelt awful.

I don't think it was fully back to my natural colour but close enough.

Didn't answer your question, my sister only went once, they did the stripping and a treatment in the same appointment but it took a few hours.

When I did it myself I used two boxes of the stripper over three days - gave myself a day's break because of all the rinsing.

Oh wow, I expected it to be quite a long drawn out process all in all. Happy to know it can be done in one sitting. I presume I would have to let my hair rest a while before I can think about highlights again?
