Not a 'wedding dress'

I am planning on getting married in a registry office soon. We've been together for ages, 2 kids. Were due to get married in Covid and since had kids so never got round to rearranging. Part of the reason we've not got round to rescheduling is that we are super busy and just haven't got the bandwidth to organise a big do. As such, this will be a small affair and we'll maybe do a small meal after.

I'd like a nice outfit that's probably white but not a 'wedding dress' (although could be a white dress). I am 5ft7, size 8/10, small boobs, quite narrow hips so quite an athletic build. I like tailored things and simple silhouettes. Nothing too flouncy although I would like a bit of a wow factor. I've thought about a nice white suit but don't want to look too business like so needs to have a touch of glam. I think i'd like to keep it under a thousand pounds.

Any ideas?

i ended up with the first although had the frill on the sleeve removed!

I think it was a way for the OP to highlight that she has a decent budget (so isn't looking for super cheap) but doesn't want to be shown top end designer £££££ options.

Before you order anything, get yourself to a wed2be and try on a bunch of different styles. I am so glad I did this because even though the dress they sold me was way too big (seamstress was not impressed) the silhouette and overall look was quite, quite different to what I'd imagined myself wearing.

Some famous person wore something similar to this recently and looked stunning. Can't remember who it was.

yeah, that’s what I was getting at. I appreciate that there’s lovely dresses available for much less than £1k but also that if someone had a suggestion of something a bit more expensive that’s fine up to around that number.

I wore a coast dress for my wedding in Chelsea registry office this year. Dress was under £120 and then I spent another £180 getting it tailored. Had so many compliments, picture included ☺️
