Night cream

I'm early 60s with quite dry skin. I've tried a night Serum which did nothing so I want to try a cream.

Any ideas on something reasonable (max £20) that's easily obtainable from Boots or Superdrug as they're the only nearby shops.

M&S absolute sleep cream , about £20

Well I double up, serum then when set, facial oil. I quite like The Ordinary's Rosehip, but just experiment.

Olay night effect is really good

Are you using a balm cleanser?

I'm currently really liking the Elizabeth Arden 8 hour range and they have a really thick night cream and also a night time balm. They can both be found in a sale often, ice for mine from Amazon.

dudsville · 23/10/2025 07:38

Apologies, the first cream I mentioned isn't a night time one specifically, it's called "Visible difference refining moisture cream complex", but it's like a mask almost!

@dudsville I use a Nivea cleanser. No idea if it's a balm ine as I've no idea what that is.

You'll have guessed that skincare isn't a big interest of mine. I just want something cheap that will stop my face feeling dry.

I have always had dry skin. I wasn't into skin care either. What works for one may not work for another, but this is what helped me. A balm cleanser - this doesn't lather. I massage it in a bit and then wash it off in the shower with a good rub of a flannel and warm water. Followed by a swipe over of glycolic acid on a bit of cotton wool. Followed by 2 serums, nicinimide and hyaluronic acid, and then a thick cream moisturiser with a balm moisturiser on top, all quickly applied one on top of the other while face is still damp from the previous one. It's cured my dry skin, and it can all be bought relatively cheaply from The Ordinary or Boots or Superdrug.

I’m late 50s. I cleanse with micceller water first, then appt a night oil (elf beauty sleep), I do this early evening, then at bedtime I apply Sukin Rosehip night cream.

I love the Nivea in the blue tin at night, its very rich and moisturising.

cinnamonbunlover · 24/10/2025 09:00

aldi or Lidl are really good. The q10 ones. They are £1.50

the Lidl ones do an intense range which is richer, but the original Aldi one is great!

tomorrowtoblerone · 24/10/2025 09:04

Garnier organic hemp oil - it's about a tenner.

Came to say the same. Cheap as chips but extremely effective.

Thanks. I'll probably try this one first as I've always got on well with Nivea stuff

I'm getting on really well with Clinique at the moment, the moisture surge night masque is amazing. Google for bargains as it varies in price.
