Eye bag fillers, are they really that bad?

After 2 kids and going back to working full time, my skin has really aged. I look at least 10 years older than I really am. It's really knocked my confidence.
I got a tiny bit of Botox on my 11 lines a few months ago and I really like getting back to self care a bit, just for confidence more than anything else.
Now looking at doing something about my eye bags. I've lost a lot of weight on my face so they're quite hollow and saggy.
I had a consultation already with a qualified, experienced Dr. She seems to think I'm a good candidate and the clinic has good reviews. I got my Botox done there so I'm very comfortable with them.
But everything I've read online wans against it, saying that it's super risky.
I dont really want to go down the surgery route so just wondering if anyone has actually had a positive experience with under eye fillers?
It will be a hyleronic acid filler done with a cannula. Thanks!!

Have you looked into polynucleotides? I’ve only had one treatment, but have friends who have had the three and there is a noticeable difference

I have! But from what I can gather, that's just for mild/moderate eye bags ...mine are really bad

Microneedling - a course of it is supposed to be v good. I don’t do Botox or fillers but have heard under eye is a complete no no and it can migrate etc - make them worse over time. If you are relatively young I’d try that first. Most doctors won’t touch under eyes with fillers and it needs a much more skilled hand than Botox

I’ve had tear trough filler and it’s amazing. Only get it done by a doctor who does full time aesthetics (I would say thing for any injectables actually). I look so much more refreshed and it’s my eyes still look better than they did even though it’s 5-6 years since I had it done. I am due a top-up now though (first one).

Oh wow! To be honest I haven't heard many success stories, so thanks for this.

I have had them and they are great and really make a difference - I no longer look tired and worn out - I don't wear make up.

However get them done with an aesthetics nurse of aesthetics doctor. Not a therapist who has trained in fillers and not a regular GP. I have experienced various practitioners and it makes a big difference that I go to an aesthetics nurse who used to assist maxillo-facial surgeons as they know the anatomy of the face and the blood vessels and nerves.

My friend has tear trough filers, she thought they were great, everyone else thought she looked really weird

Gwenhwyfar · 22/10/2025 17:22

Tear trough fillers are for hollows, not bags. For bags you need a lower blepharoplasty, which I think would be a whole operation.
I've had t t filler for my undereyes. It helps, but doesn't fix them.

I’d get an assessment done by a good doctor. I’m happy with my under eyes at 49. This is what I’ve done - very subtle tear trough about 5 years ago (the trick is to not do it again - it lasts for years and years) but I had hollowing and no bags. I’ve had neo gen plasma in this area to tighten. That was last year. This year I’ve had polynucleotides which I like - they are subtle but I could tell.

Delatron · 22/10/2025 19:08

If your bags are bad you will need a lower bleph though. And arguably you may as well do that (very successful and effective op) than throw loads of money at other treatments.

My experience is the same tbh.

The difference it made was amazing and 4 years later I still thoroughly recommend it. It took years off me.

So natural yet so effective.

Ive had tear trough filler and its great. And didn't hurt that much. It lasted a year.

DonaldTrumpsWig · 23/10/2025 23:54

I had tear trough fillers for bags and it made a big improvement. Someone above said they’re for hollows not bags. Yes, but fillers do level them out quite a bit. I’ve had this done twice, great results both times. Probably due another one soon as the effect lasts around 4 years for me. Get a proper aesthetic doctor to do it though, not just a beauty therapist who does a few injections on the side.

*Edited to update how long it lasts… time flies! Didn’t realise it was so long since I last had it done. Only now am I starting to see bags again!
