Until recently - today - my day to day wear has been leggings, over size t-shirt with a vest under (for breastfeeding) and a hoody. I want to change that.

I have bought these jeans off M&S - https://www.marksandspencer.com/ie/magic-shaping-high-waisted-slim-flare-jeans/p/clp60627217?color=MEDIUMINDIGO

I am according to Chat GPT when I entered my measurements a 'soft' hourglass 😂my boobs/ hips are nearly a 1:1 ratio but I have a 'soft' middle. I don't mind the front view, it's the side one. I hate my pouch, I find it really sticks out. 2 sections didn't do me any favours. But neither did the insane hunger breastfeeding gives me, and it is often for the 'bad' stuff because it is quick and there.

Anyway, younger DS is now 13 months and I have started to wean him fully, he just has a night feed. So I've no excuses.

How do I make this sort of thing work for me? I am in my mid 30s, 5'4, BMI 28, size 14

No idea but following for the same information 😂Those jeans are now sold out in my size.
I've invested in a couple of nice jumpers from Lighthouse and crew clothing when are comfy/practical but nicer than a hoodie or fleece.

The Acai trousers are great. So stretchy and water resistant (great for when you get covered in duck cr@p!!). They look smart too. Haven't quite figured out the top half yet, but I'm pregnant so I'm sticking to hoodies in the meantime. Before it was usually a Rydale shirt, which was easy enough to undo for breastfeeding

I'm a gold/silversmith and at my bench at all hours, at this time of year. I wear loose, work-softened cotton dungarees and a white tee for work.

When I walk the dogs, I switch to black leggings, one of my teen's shackets or DH's wax jacket, and wellies.

If I venture out to a friend's house or the shops, I wear one of three identical long sleeved, black heavy jersey midi dresses from Toast, boots and a leather jacket.

I love nice clothes, but accept that I hate wasting time thinking about how I look.
As a result, I look exactly the same, every day, so I have precious little to add to this thread on reflection Grin

I prefer total comfort over anything else. I cannot abide wearing jeans - I think they're insanely uncomfortable, but I know that's a me thing Grin

@middleagedandinarage I had to keep checking for my size! There is very little in stock on their website. I wasn't sure if that was an Ireland M&S issue. But it says they won't be here for a week so I think they are coming from the UK anyway!

@Fuzzyhippo the Acai trousers look lovely. Do they add much bulk to your legs? Any time I've tried fleece lined leggings etc I thought they didn't do much for me. They look great if I have to start doing more of the farming!

@continuo I am all about comfort as well but I don't mind jeans. High heels, things that dig, scratch, itch, cannot be pulled above my elbows are all no go

https://www.next.ie/en/style/su842445/y02397 what do ye think of this? I think it would be nice for day to day wear. WFH, drop/ collect kids from school/ and no I am not joking potentially put on the wellies and do something on the farm!!

Rugby style tops, quarter zips and jeans for the farm (I don't have many jobs to do so I don't get too mucky day-to-day), obviously practical boots for that. Co-ord loungewear for home. I never go outside in something I'd sleep in so no loungewear outside the house. School run is either jeans and knee high boots with a nice jumper and coat, or dresses and boots. I've taken a lot of inspiration from the princess of wales' casual wear this season after struggling to find what I want to wear. Neutral dark colours, co-ordinating boots, belt and bag. Long coat, statement coat with a plain outfit etc. Lots of scarves in similar colours to co-ordinate. Wax jackets always look better than the usual raincoats, so I've got a few in different lengths for farming and parenting.

Fleece lined leggings/tights are great, they are bulky but with long dresses or coats I think they're ok. I wear contrasting long socks to peek out or roll over top of boots which breaks up the bulk a bit I find.

The leggings and a bit jumper for most days I'm WFH or office days with no clients. Office days with clients something along the lines of the trousers pic, pretty much all other days skirt/jumper/(black( tights/Docs. (All pictures from Pinterest, they're not me!)

Those jeans are gorgeous though: I used to be so paranoid about my stomach in trousers and I just decided I didn't care any more, although I know that's easier said than done! A high waisted wide leg jean might balance you out though if you'd prefer that?

Editing to add: I sold all my clothes this year and made a point of only buying things that work together. It's probably a bit 'uniform'-y but I really like all my outfits now! So I'd find shapes/colours/styles you like and then really strictly buy to that. If you want really nice-fitting basics that are comfy, Manners London is good but £££. Some of Lucy & Yak's trousers especially are also mega comfy and good staples.
