Does my hair even look nice? And what products?

I have collarbone length hair, it's very fine but plentiful. It has a natural light curl/wave as shown when I use a ton of gel and let it dry naturally. It's easy to dry straight so I usually do that but with fine hair and a small head people say it looks better (I didn't ask!) when it's curly.

I do wonder though, my gran would always describe it as rats tails when I was young and it can never look neat. I prefer it curly when it's nice but you don't know what you're going to get until it's dry and some days it's not a great surprise.

So, do you think it's a nice curl and can anyone suggest products that work well for fine and only slightly curly hair, I find most make the curl drop.

Thanks

Thank you all, I feel much better about it!

Going to look at the Merwave products because they seen to be aimed at my hair type.

I do worry about wasting yet more money so asked chatgpt to find a mousse with the sane ingredients. Boots Everyday Hair Curl Mousse is incredibly close, for £1.69 I may have to try that first!

I started to use merwave about 6 months ago and its great. I don't have to use the full regime every day, I tend to use the merwave cream and foam. Occasionally the gel. The protein is great once a week or so.

What lovely hair, the colour, the wave and the texture. I have similar hair, fine, but plenty of it but I battle with frizz, especially in the summer months. I'm dark and oddly as I have got older it has become much darker, I have white coming through and gave up trying to cover it up in the pandemic .

It’s gorgeous. Your hair pattern is actually wavy rather than curly, so look out for products for wavy hair as they are lighter than curly ones and less likely to drag your hair down.

My hair is similar to yours (although not as nice) and I love Jessicurl’s lightweight products. They are quite expensive but last ages and you can get a free sample pack to try out the whole range. https://jessicurluk.com/collections/free-samples?srsltid=AfmBOoqIAaHLrYoqab75ZooI27GBWHjdNkCopOVnKnH6CMxJ50WVfv9C

Your hair looks lovely. Wish I could get mine like this

Your hair is lovely. Mine is a bit curlier especially at the back but I swear by the Umberto Gianni pink hair products in Boots. The shampoo, conditioner, mousse and gel. I usually use a handful of mousse on wet hair and a little bit of gel, scrunch it all in upside down then leave as long as possible, finishing off with a diffuser.

It’s beautiful! Lovely natural style and gorgeous colour. Keep it as is.

Are you joking? If that's your hair, well it's just lovely! Goldilocks.

Mine is very similar to yours too. I tend to wear it up because the art of getting it to look wavy and nice at the same time is beyond me. I have some very wavy sections and some not so which seems make things harder.

BangingOn · 20/10/2025 15:27

My hair is very similar. I’ve had it cut a little shorter and I use a GHD Curve to create a few loose, but more defined curls amongst all the waves and that works well.

@ChristmasHug let us know how you get on with Merwave - I am very interested, and equally scarred by 'rats tails' comments.
