How much is your monthly supplement spend?

I have just started taking magnesium, Ashgwanda and a multi vitamin supplement . I only take them in gummies as can't do tablets. This is £30 a month. I am thinking of taking collagen and that Feel metabolic product but can see costs plummeting.

I'm interested to see what other women in their menopausal years take and if you take similar supplements.

Gawd I dread to think and I probably rattle. I take collagen and inulin in my morning coffee and psyllium husk to keep me regular then iron vit d and magnesium. Sometimes I take vit c zinc and tyrosine and tryptophan (adhd) but I’m forgetful. Also have a probiotic and peppermint oil for digestive issues and creatine for muscles. Omega 3 too. I’m a sucker for a supplement and need to rein it in. I do think the collagen works though and the magnesium. My iron and vit d levels are low in blood tests so trying to boost.

Post menopausal now but have never taken anything. Your costs , if you add these additional ones, will soar, not plummet.

Interesting question so I quickly added it all up and it works out at £22 per month! By far the most expensive thing is Collagen (I use Ancient and brave) plus Psyllium husk, Multi vit, Lions maine, Biotin, Vitamin D.

Yes I mean soar not plummet!
I am going to look up psyllium husk too....

I'm moving away from most of them, on the basis that I can't afford all of the ones I might want, and that health and nutrition are holistic not fixable by one (or multiple) single supplement. Sometimes I have unbalanced my system with a particular thing too. Less is more. It's just another kind of consumerism to me.

CharlotteCChapel · 15/10/2025 13:02

If your diet is balanced you shouldn't need a y supplements. I get iron tablets on prescription and I need to take 4000ui D3 due to deficiency, both for medical conditions.

ChilliMochaCoco · 15/10/2025 14:16

Well I have found that supplements make me feel better so I will continue to take them but wondering if people combine some to reduce costs too?

Almost zero.

I take 1000mcgs of Vit D a day and that's it.

The private gynaecologist I see doesn't favour supplements at all, except Vit D.

Most of them are a complete waste of money.
Collagen cannot be absorbed to help y your skin by swallowing it- lots of info on this online from qualified medics.

If you're struggling with menopause, consider HRT.
And work on your diet- try the 30 different plants a week (the Zoe program of healthy eating.)

You could get a lot of lovely food for what you're spending on supplements.
Virgin olive oil, avocados, oily fish, almonds, etc etc.

Just vitamin d - got a large tub that is lasting ages.
