Help - Posh dress need for party (not full length though)

Help needed from style experts. Just received invitation to party of a couple who are celebrating 10 years together. Evening party in a marquee, music etc. Not ballgown but nice dressy frock required

Me - 5ft7
size 14/16 bottoms but 16 top
Want to wear heels in order to feel superior!!
as nickname suggests am in 40s (not actually 40 but that is the age I decided to stick at!)

Any suggestions welcome (live middle of wilderness - mail order preferable)

all suggestions/links gratefully received. I used to know what to wear immediately when at events like this but 3 children later and I seem to live in casual boden stuff - no posh dresses

thanks for great suggestions - sorry had to go and help student out with pre-exam nerves! Anway - back to me!! The dresses are lovely but not me. I think I imagine myself in something a bit bohemian but not too hippy dippy! - a bit sexy (but not slutty!) and a bit elegant (but not dull!) Okay maybe I need to find a designer all of my own. Also don't really want to go for totally bare shoulders or arms, but suppose cd get round that with a shrug (clothing shrug - not shrug of fat shoulders!!)

I put a similar plea out a little while ago for sexy undies for jaunt away with DH and am all ready to go with that one - have a whole cupboard full!
