Getting nails done professionally or not?

Usually when I go to an event I would usually only use a clear nail polish at home. Over the past few years I know people getting nails done professionally. I never got my nails done professionally.

I googled it and there are a few different options for nails. My job doesn't allow nail polish so I am afraid the most I would be able to get done is a file and regular polish. I do hate doing my nails myself.

I am going to a wedding at the weekend and I am drawn to the idea of getting my nails done professionally. Would it be worth it?

Thanks for all of your replies.

I think I will go into my local city in the morning and there's a nail bar that does walks ins. So I will see if they have any availablity and request for a file and polish with regular polish. I really don't think I want to do this myself.

If they can't I found a nice shade of sally Hansen polish on boots

Sounds like a good plan. Let us know how it goes.

Yes, all nail bars have normal polish. I’ve never known one that doesn’t.

None in my town do, all require UV lamps to cure which ruined my nails the one and only time I had gels. Rang about 8 different places, none of them do regular polish, even when I offered to take my own

I’m really surprised at this as I go regularly with my mum who won’t wear gels. (London/outskirts)

I can understand why they wouldn’t want to offer as a service. It takes far longer than most realise, or wait for polish to air dry, even under fans. So if they are looking for quick turnaround I suppose the space/time/price isn’t worth it for them.

A one-(wo)man nail tech in a hair/beauty salon or mobile would probably be a better option if your local nail bar won’t do it, OP.

You don't need to wait for it to air dey though, by the time you've done the 10th nail the first is fine for the next coat, then you can use a fast drying topcoat. I can do mine in 15 mins (after prep) with normal polish then they are touch dry after another 5. But it is possible there's just not much demand for it any more and the techs are only trained for gel etc. I just looked at the booking for the salon I go to and they do either (it's a beauty salon rather than a nail bar).

Ok, I went to town and went into a nail bar that does walks ins. I got a manicure and regular polish. I picked a pale rose pink champagne colour. I love it. I can see the benefit of it for sure. It will save me so much time tonight. Usually when I do my nails I have to wait for ages for the to dry and they get smudged and I have to use remover and redo a few. This just saves so much time.

I really loved the colour but now I regret I didn't research more colour schemes. I love the colour but I wish I went for a Burgundy colour instead.

Also I am a hard working person with so much bullshit left right and centre of me to put up with and I still have a day's work to do ahead of me. I already see a very slight chip in one of the nails. This is absolutely my own doing rummaging in my bag. I really done see this lasting well.

Sounds lovely, take a photo (I always do). Then I remember next time what I had before. Hope you enjoy the wedding.

Normal nail polish lasts about 3 minutes on me OP so I sympathise.

Thats why I haven’t seen my natural nails in about a year. I have acrylic overlays now every 3 weeks, my natural nails are probably awful underneath though!

There are a few more little chips coming into my nails now. This is me just working with my hands. I am disappointed. I suppose maybe others won't see because they are tiny. I am so disappointed.
