Shoes with tuxedo dress

Off for a smart cocktail party in next 10 days and am wearing an above knee black tuxedo dress and opaque black tights. I have statement jewellery I could add eg chunky (real!) pearls.
I tried on lots of things and this looked the best- I am tall/slimish and it shows off my legs and is a very classic look. I am slightly nervous about looking totally passé so would like some new shoes. I have a number of black heel options in my wardrobe but wanted something that might make the look more contemporary.
I do want to be comfortable though and have size 42 (9) feet so my options are limited. Anything super high is also out as I’ll become stupidly tall.
happy to spend £200ish
Could anyone make some suggestions please- I keep hearing heels are out dated too but they do still seem to be on sale in every shop. Is it just certain heel shapes which are “out”?
or could I wear shoe clips on my existing heels?

Thanks

I really, really, really dislike high strappy sandals. That dress is great but my eyes are just drawn to her feet. And nobody actually has feet you want to look at for any length of time.

I would wear sheer black tights and black patent kitten heels or low stilletos, either fully closed or closed toe and slingback.

There's gazillions of options if you google those terms.

Thank you both.
no was definitely not going for stroppy shoes.

I was also going to say sheer black tights.

Wear an almond-toed pump (stacked heel or flattish)
