How do I stop my hair doing this?

I have been growing it. Unless I am going out somewhere, I usually just let it dry naturally. It's currently sitting just below my shoulders. It seems to have lots of fly away, wispy ends. See photo. How do I get it smooth? I have been using Aussie shampoo and conditioner. I was going to swap to Kerastase but it's expensive so I have picked up a different sulphate free Aussie one to see if that helps. Only 2 washes in with the sulphate free one though.

John Frieda Straightening Shampoo and conditioner, followed by L'Oreal Mythic Oil.

You might need to put the dryer over your hair to smooth it down, I have a heated brush that I use to smooth my hair, or I get the ends you have, I hate drying my hair so.just do it if I have to.

Add a silk sleep bonnet to your Amazon list. Can't believe the difference it's made for me. I have very thick curly hair that's got drier (frizzier) over the years. Sleep bonnet really works for me.

After 50 years of frizzy hair, I finally got some incredibly useful advice from a hairdresser, which was NOT to air dry it. She explained that air drying just allows the lifted cuticle to stay lifted, whereas what's needed is to smooth it back into place. Perhaps this is so obvious that no-one thought it worth mentioning before, but it was news to me! I've started properly blow drying it, starting with a rough (downward pointing) dry with the hairdryer and then a thorough dry with a hot air brush. If I have the patience to make sure that it's absolutely dry before I stop, I can get it properly smooth and it lasts a few days, even in the damp!

Thanks. Next time I wash it, I will dry it properly and check.
