Non-clumpy, non-frumpy but comfortable loafer shoes

Hi style gurus! I've decided I need some loafers for work. I wear dresses rather than trousers (think Hobbs shift dress style) so they can't be too clunky, as that wouldn't go with the style. But I also want something with a bit of style. I don't mind spending a bit of money (say £150) for something good quality and comfortable. Thinking black or dark red. I looked online, Dune had some nice ones but no idea if they're comfortable...? Am in London so can go look in person but I don't have a huge amount of spare time for browsing between work and kids, so I'm trying to narrow down my options!

Going into winter I would get some Chelsea boots instead. Not chunky teenage ones but nice quality 'light' ones.

Following with interest, the perfect loafer is the holy grail for me. I need a 42 wide or a 43 and so many of these aren’t available for big feet.

with big feet a chunky loafer can be too huge, 45 and never found the perfect one yet but FWIW OP I’m on my second pair of these, which are incredibly comfortable

I like these too, I have skinny ankles and look ridiculous in clumpy shoes

Update - I tried the & other stories shoes - loved them but not comfortable on me :( Tried Jones Bootmaker but they fell into the frumpy category.

What do we think of these?

I purchased 3 really nice pairs from M&S & Next online yesterday to go with dresses and ankle grazer trousers. A pair of very dark brown slightly mock crock effect, a tan pair with tapered square toe & gold buckle detail and a pair of black patent black leather total cost £125 initially only intending to keep 1 pair have kept all 3 because it was really striking how much each different colour & style elevated the outfit, having black very dark brown & tan give so much choice. And each are supremely comfortable as I get very sore feet fallen arches so they are cushioned and don’t pinch anywhere. I recommend using your budget for at least 2 different styles in a brown & a black to match your work outfits as necessary. Also in my experience wearing different shoes regularly creates less pressure on vulnerable parts of the feet until they are well broken in. Dune Russel & Bromley Moda in Pelle & Moshulu all do lovely shoes but as I said I found incredibly nice ones in an M&S superstore & Next online because they stock a wide range of brands

What do I think?

I think I’m astonished not a single person has directed you to

Grenson

You’ve missed the most recent sale, but if you look out for the next one you’ll be able to buy beautifully made loafers for High St prices.

I have these in patent and they are the comfiest shoes I've ever worn - straight out of the box.

I’ve ordered the Timberland ones. They’re a little chunky but not too much, and no fussy tassels or frills. Wasn’t keen on suede as I walk a fair bit round rainy London. Will report back!!

I would go for suede rather than leather, suede will be more comfortable and will give a softer look.

I love Sezane for shoes, and the loafers I have are so comfortable https://www.sezane.com/en-en/collection/shoes/loafers

I like them a lot! Surprisingly lightweight. Nice size heel, not too dainty but not too clompy, and I think the stitching stops them being boring. Trying to post a photo

Having tried on many and my feet having arthritic toes and the start of bunions (oh joy) I bought these and they are so so comfortable! They look so good on too. DEF RECOMMEND

I can second this recommendation.

Moshulu, who I love for sandals and shoes, don't suit me at all. Too wide

R&B don't fit either. I'm between sizes.
