I really quite like this year's over-sized sunglasses, but the bridge of my noise is a bit low/small/something

It means that the glasses don't sit far enough away (or possibly not high enough) from my face and when I smile my cheeks push on the bottom of the glasses so that they move. Which is quite unappealing. Is there anything that I can buy which can be unobtrusively attached to the nose part of the sunglasses to make them sit a bit higher or further from my cheeks?

TIA.

Obviously I meant nose in the title not noise.

Bumping now that they betime routine mayhem is over (for me at least).

Either go for some smaller frames, as IME big sunnies (a la Paris Hilton) make people look like insects, or go for frames with nose pads so they can be adjusted.

DirtySexyMummy · 03/06/2008 19:46

Now, this happens to me, as I too am blessed with a cute, small, delicate and perfectly formed nose

I wear sunglasses all the time (well, not all the time, but a lot) and firstly - I can assure you that the 'movement' you describe is not really noticeable to anyone else. It also happens to most people (other than those with roman/jewish type noses) So, I would suggest you just get on with it, its fine, and very normal.
I also, FWIW, have a problem with my eyelashes rubbing against the lenses.. can be annoying, but after ten minutes or so, you forget.

However, if it really bothers you, than I would advise to get sunglesses that have the seperate little plasticy bits that sit on your nose, rather than the actual frame sitting on your nose, as this makes them sit further away.

Personally, I have sunnglasses in both styles, and I prefer the ones without those bits, but you might prefer them.

Hope this helps

The thing is I've already bought a pair that I like. They're not stupidly huge, they don't make me look like an insect (and I'm trying to pretend that they don't have a slight hint of Bono about them), but I am finding them annoying to wear.

Perhaps I should return them and not bother with sunglasses, if this summer is like last summer I won't need them much anyway.

Not smiling is an attractive option too, I quite fancy looking moody in the playground at pick-up time.

(Did you see my sunglasses move on that last post?)

See, told you noone would notice

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 03/06/2008 22:35

Where did you get them? If you got them at an optician's take them and get them adjusted - they should be able to bow them round so they don't touch your cheeks!

If they didn't come from an optician's - return them and get your money back, and then get a nice pair of RayBans!

bran · 03/06/2008 23:12

I always wear cheapie sunglasses UD as I'm very forgetful and tend to lose them/leave them in cafes etc. I spend a reasonable amount on a well-fitting (and very unfashionable) pair for driving, but they stay in the car so I don't lose them.

Go to H&M for cheap sunglasses. They are very cheap, about a fiver, and are fantastic quality. I have 2 pairs from there, both of which I have had for over a year.

But, if you do get a nice proper expensive designer pair, chances are you won't lose them, as you will take such good care of them!

I thrown my H&M ones into my bag. I carefully put my posh ones into their cases, every time.

theAfkaUrbanDryad · 04/06/2008 08:47

I got a really cheap pair of RayBans off eBay - think they were about £3 or so. They might be knock-offs, but they're such a good copy (if they are a copy) that I don't really care!

My prescription sunnies are Givenchy because my ridiculously thick lenses won't go into a cheap frame!!

bran · 05/06/2008 20:51

I have bought some stick on nose thingys from ebay, so hopefully I'll be able to wear my current new sunglasses without movement.

My absent-mindedness isn't price sensitive DSM, I know this because I have in the past left quite expensive sunglasses and had to buy cheap replacements.

I'm not sure about RayBans really, I hardly ever see a pair that I like. In fact I generally take ages to buy a pair of sunglasses which is why I would quite like to make this pair sit a bit higher on my face to save the endless agony of trying to find another pair that I like.

Actually, I've googled Raybans and there is this style which I like. I'll see if I can try them on somewhere.

Will check out H&M too, thanks.

Love those M&S ones bran. I will have to go try them on myself. It takes me ages to find a pair I like and am currently wearing just an okay pair that do nothing for me. The Jackie O ones are nice too, but too expensive.
