as i'm booked in to have it done and have heebiejeebies. it is to cover white hairs. she says she can match my hair colour and that it is a good first foray into colouring. i'm scared it will trash the texture of my hair and look obviously dyed.

TALK TO ME PEOPLE.

I don't know. The permanent ones definitely haven't been doing my hair any good tho. I ordered a Daniel Field one yesterday.

FANTASTIC!!!! like my own hair, but greys camouflaged (not disappeared but really unnoticeable) and a much better texture. my hair is brown, but very ash, and i was so worried was was going to end up with red/purply undertones. none in sight, am really really chuffed.

you need to make absolutely sure you get it done by someone really good. she matched my hair colour almost exactly. which is what i wanted. i really pissed her off with my blithering about how scared i was and would it look worse than it did blah blah. but she was suitably pleased when i was effusive when i was dried. i really like it. it is natural, but more glossy. like i said, the whites aren't totally covered up, BUT they are a lot less noticeable, seem to blend in more with the rest of my hair, there are a lot less of them and they are a better texture which was half the problem as they were very wirey before.

Oh, glad it went well.

I love the first week afterwards - have all these shorter hairs that stand up along my parting (have shoulder length hair), and somehow they seem to be smoothed down and controlled.

Heathcliffscathy · 05/06/2008 20:31

yes. it was the most semi-permanent thing they did. apparently there is a slightly more permanent semi-permanent one that covers the greys a lot more effectively. she said this did 60%, the next one up (still washes out though) covers 80%.

I pay about £95 for a cut, semi-permanent and a blow-dry.
