Where can I buy good quality, fashionable clothes?

As the title says really. I'm sick of cheap clothes, made of polyester that last for 5 minutes but I don't know any good quality brands that are still quite funky.

Any ideas?

Try Anthropologie

I find it difficult to find much nice good quality fashion at all right now. I’m ending up shopping mainly in Uniqlo and M&S!

Try Anthropologie

I did look at these earlier and saw they were quite pricey, it's difficult to know if the price matches the quality so thank you for the recommendation!

Maybe I will stick to them too!

Do you want fashion or do you want wardrobe staples?

On the high street, M &S, Uniqlo and FatFace are good for jeans that last well.
Uniqlo are good for t-shirts and hoodies.
M& S Goodmove for sportwear.

For fashion that you don't expect to last forever, try Zara, Primark, H&M, New Look and TK Maxx.

Seasalt is decent quality but I wouldn't call it a fashion brand. Women's Summer Dresses - Seasalt Cornwall. They have some lovely stuff without being too expensive.

Finisterre is good for outdoors-type clothes.Women's Bestsellers | Finisterre

Muji is good for staples, but the selection and range of colours is limited.Womenswear | MUJI

You'd need to pick and choose from those brands. They could look a bit staid or effortlessly cool.

** With the fast fashion shops, look for natural fabrics and the gems will be few and far between. Same is true of supermarkets.
** I focussed more on staples that look presentable without breaking the bank. There are brands that I would list bit your Anthropologie comment suggested they'd be too pricy.

All these shops have brilliant EBay outlets....

UpMyself · 21/09/2025 20:47

Do they? I know Seasalt does. Seasalt Cornwall Official Outlet | eBay UK Stores

Start with

Community Clothing

And decide if you want to pay more for fancier, more ‘fashion-y’ brands, or whether you like the plainness and are confident in your own ability to add interesting / cool accessories and grooming.

To be honest, this is what top quality minimalism looks like:

Margaret Howell

Photos don’t convey the amazing quality of the fabrics or construction of the clothes.

This is a softer, more relaxed take:

Aime London

This is super-cool in a niche sort of way. (And the owners can talk for hours and hours about fabric choices and stitching etc, etc):

Colenimo

On a limited budget I’d say it’s much wiser to look for these types of brands pre-owned or massively reduced in the sales than to waste money on egregiously overpriced High St offerings.

How about Me & Em - very good quality and stylish. Great knitwear and lounge wear - Navy Grey. Cos, Whistles, Albaray, sll have some good stuff too and more affordable. None of this is cheap but can be mixed with excellent basics from Arket, Uniqlo.

impressivelycunty · 21/09/2025 21:46

Also have a look at Erica Davies on IG - she’s great.

Whomanity · 21/09/2025 22:02

People who buy Me and Em are all saying the quality has dropped as prices have shot up. I’ve never bought from them but have often been disappointed with the fabric choices on the website.

I agree a judicious mix of high and low is a tremendously satisfying way to dress.

Toadsrevisited · 22/09/2025 19:53

@UpMyself try searching 'ex ' brand name.

UpMyself · 23/09/2025 10:06

@Toadsrevisited , it didn't work.

I do have a Community Clothing jumper which I love. It was new last winter so will see how it lasts.

Thanks for the rest of the tips, really helpful.

Joanie, if it hasn’t been suggested yet. Especially if you love a good print.
