Wide leg trousers - what boots?

This has probably been asked loads of times, so I’m sorry to ask again!

I’m short and like full length wide leg trousers (mostly because they’re all long on me anyway - I’m 5’1”).

What winter boots will look ok? Do I need a particular shaped toe and/or heel?

I’ve got chunky pull on boots (a bit like Chelsea boots) but can’t decide if they look ok or frumpy. There’s a slight ‘1980s traffic warden’ vibe I fear. I’ve also got boots with a heel and a more pointed toe, but can only wear heels occasionally.

I like the chunky loafer look but don’t get on well with shoes, it really needs to be boots. (and I’ve got trainers so no probs there).

Have tried looking at other people, searching images and insta/pinterest and I still don’t know 😭 Send help please!

I always wear Chelsea boots but I'm 5'7 so maybe that makes it look different

I don't like chunky/clumpy boots with wide leg trousers - I know exactly what you mean about 80s traffic warden! It's wide leg with wide foot....doesn't look right.

I think you need something a little more slim/pointed, maybe a small kitten/block heel.

I know you said boots only, but consider a mary-jane ballet flat shoe - they are everywhere this season, and they are much easier and more comfortable than regular shoes. I have some from Fit Flop which look great with wide trousers.

Thanks both - I’ll check out the ballet style Mary Jane’s. Frustratingly, chunky boots and wide legs look good on other people, but I can’t get passed the traffic warden image, I’m glad you got what I meant @CointreauVersial

Might also try a few more pairs of loafers and taking the trousers up a bit too. Apart from the footwear they’re super comfy and flattering.
