Anyone growing their hair from v short?

I have had short hair for years, including a no 4 crop at one point. Lately I have been letting it grow as I sort of fancy longer hair again before I am too old for it to be anything other than feeble wisps.
But I now look like a cross between Lord SUmmerisle andGary Glitter (before the nonce arrests).
ANy advice?>

I have been growing mine since last August (doesn't help that I have the slowest growing hair in the world) I had it in a v short crop for a year - prior to that it was always bobbed which is what I want to get back to. Have no advice other than accept now that you may look weird for a while and find a bloody good hairdresser. One who can actually cut really well, rather than one who knows all about latest "products" (grr, can you tell I am talking from experience?!)

I have grown out uber-short cuts several times. Funky headscarves are a big help. ditto pretty slides (grown-up ones, mind). You could also smooth it all down with a smidge of 'product' and wear a thin headband which are cool nowadays so young people tell me.

I've done it many times as I'm fickle with my hair. A good hairdresser and regular cuts is the way, there are lots of good styles on the way down. Of course there will have to be a couple of annoying months but it needn't be too bad.

GHDs help, in my experience. I am growing my 'Judi Dench' out now, and since I have wavy hair, they help keep it tidy around the face. Otherwise the wave rus mad with the layers.
