School run capsule wardrobe ideas

So, I’m in need of updating my wardrobe. I’ve saved for a long time while I was losing weight which has been long and arduous since I had our last daughter (2 years and 120lbs later) Im finally stable and at goal.

I hate the school run! I hated School playground politics as a kid so it’s just a follow on from that.

Bottom line is, I want to look nice-ish and feel a bit more confident and one of those steps is style.
35 years old
size 10-12,
hourglass shape,
5ft 10

I’m a stay at home mum so no work attire needed, just a mum uniform for the daily walk to and from school and nursery. I tend to pop to the gym in the middle of the day so not straight after drop off.

at the moment my usual always involves a baseball cap as I have the kind of hair that’s not long enough to put up properly and needs a proper blow dry every morning, which I’m loathed to do first thing in the morning before the gym only to have to do it again after my work out. I hate my hair but that’s another story entirely.

So mumsnet; what do you think looks nice you wear or see other mums in that I can start to put together a bit of a capsule wardrobe. What’s trendy in your area?

Following for ideas also!

but generally I go for oversized jumpers and leggings or smaller jumpers and some jeans (wide leg)
those slip on Ugg type shoes are I’m fashion so I’m going to get some of those for dry days and some sort of boots for wet days. On a rainy day it will be a huge coat with the hood up as there’s no shelter

I think this is very area and weather dependent!

for me I wear gym wear every morning. For most of the school year I wear a huge coat and hood too. I live in quite a rural area so lots of mums wear either running/gym or horsey gear.

For pick up there’s a huge variety of styles which I think is nice/interesting. I normally stick to nice jeans and a t shirt/ jumper as quite often go to the park after school. I think I look quite stylish though (but definitely not high fashion!)

You're a similar age and size to me and I tend to wear:

Gym leggings and an oversized hoodie as I'll often go on a long walk after the morning school run.

Wide legged joggers, t shirt tucked in, trainers and a denim jacket

Ankle length straight cut jeans, t shirt or thin jumper, trainers and a leather jacket

Uniqlo is my go to shop for decent quality basics.
