Eyebrow help please!

I'm nearly 50 and my eyebrows are rapidly disappearing! They're getting quite sparse but the worst problem is that lots of the hairs are white, and if I pluck them out there's not a lot left!
I recently saw a photo of myself from about 25 years ago and the main thing that I noticed (and my kids agreed!) was how my eyebrows had changed.

So, I would love to do something about them but let me make it clear now that I don't want huge furry caterpillars above my eyes, just normal eyebrows!! I want them to look natural, not perfectly angled as the current fashion seems to be.

I'm very low maintenance and skint, so I'd like something that will last a long time and not cost loads. What can I do??

Get a professional tint and shape. You can easily keep the shape at home with plucking and use an at home brow dye kit as well.

I use a Rimmel brow pencil which costs about £7 to groom and fill in the brows. I don't pluck out the white hairs either.

You can get them tinted just make sure you get a patch test first you really don’t want an allergic reaction above your eyes and a bright red scabby forehead/eyebrow region for a couple of weeks.

I had mine micobladed (tattoo) about three yrs ago as I had no tails.
Best money I've ever spent.
Hurt like holy hell & they've faded so I just use a pencil to fill them in.
The person that did them just followed my natural shape, I made it perfectly clear I didn't want two dead slugs above my eyes.
I'd highly recommend having it done, it's really made a difference

Another vote for Eyelure brow tint. It’s super easy and take max 15 minutes (I always leave on a bit longer than it says or my greys aren’t covered) . Mix it up, comb it in and leave for 10-15 mins. Wipes off and job done. No staining, no weird slug eyebrows but colouring the grey makes such a difference.

I pay £22 every six weeks for an eyebrow and eyelash tint. It's well worth it, looks so much better.

Do you know how much that costs? And how long does it last? Thanks

See, I've thought about that but I know what I'm like and either I'll rub them and smudge them all over my face or it'll rain and my eyebrows will fall into my eyes!!

Thanks. The dead slug look definitely needs avoiding ( and fills me with fear!)

Does it cover up the white ones or do I just pluck them out as they grow?

Thanks. My eyelashes are ok - or so I've always thought! (goes off to inspect them..)

Oh god! That's good advice - it would be just my luck to have a scabby red forehead for weeks!!

I've had mine tinted but wasn't keen on the outcome, I'm now using Maybelline Super Fluff which is a brow mascara and is FANTASTIC.

ChelseaDetective · 06/09/2025 00:58

Please stop plucking the white ones out, or you’ll soon have nothing left to work with and every hair counts.

Try a brow and lash tint (Eyelure make a good one if you don’t want to go to a salon) to blend in the white hairs.

Try and let them grow as full as possible, only plucking the real strays, and fill in any gaps and the outer shape with a really good pencil, I find ones by Japanese brands like Shu Uemura and Suqqu to be the best but there are some pretty great ones in most brands now. Look for a completely cool shade slightly lighter than you think you want.

Willowkins · 06/09/2025 01:09

I'm trying Avon eyebrow gel - it works like mascara. I use blonde because my hair is mostly white now and dark eyebrows would look a bit too obvious.

Housewife2010 · 06/09/2025 05:04

I swear by Rapidbrow. I use it every night and often during the day too. It takes about 6 weeks of daily/twice daily wear to work, but has definitely restored my ageing brows.

No just the hairs it doesn’t stain the skin at all - i have a smattering of grey hairs and it’s not a drastic change but definitely gives more definition. I then use a tinted brow gel when I’m going out for a bit more depth. I’m Rubbish at pencils but have recently bought and practising at home with Benefits Goof Proof one and it’s surprisingly good without looking like I’ve draw slugs on my brows! It gives very fine feather like strokes and I’m getting braver about filling in.
