Can anything be done about the darkened skin I have on the insides of my thighs?

It makes me look unwashed and I hate it so much.

I recently saw a supplement called Glutathione mentioned as being helpful for a condition I have. When I googled it, it seemed to suggest it also had skin lightening properties, but I didn’t look into it too much as that isn’t what I wanted it for.

The Eucerin anti-pigment dual serum with thiamidol in has had good clinical results. I saw a before and after video. Pricy though, and you have to use consistently for a few weeks for good results.

Isn’t it normal? A feature of being human?

MindytheWonderHorse · 02/09/2025 17:59

This is totally normal and largely genetic- some people get it and some don’t. It doesn’t look bad.

exfoliating and moisturiser regularly make a slight difference. I wouldn’t use lightening cream on that delicate skin.

Do you have PCOS? It’s one of the symptoms darkening of the skin in certain areas of the body
(also neck armpits and under breasts)

No, I understand that, but women’s bodies are always needing to be modified because we’re encouraged to think of them as dirty or disfigured, and they aren’t! I just wanted to say it’s normal.

I think it indicates your blood sugar isn’t controlled well. Drop a lot of carbs maybe?

Mrsmunchofmunchington · 02/09/2025 18:52

I had no idea this wasn’t something all women had!
Well you live and learn.

No but I am overweight which can also be a cause I believe, from rubbing/chafing. I’ve lost 5st since April, still have a few more to go though.

I’ve barely eaten any carbs at all since April, there’s none left for me to drop 🤣

I know that serums like niacinamide and bit c are recommended for hyperpigmentation on the face - worth researching?

Really? This is something I’ve never heard of or noticed before! Which tbf OP probably means it’s only you that is noticing yours
