Hairdressing appointment - was it me?

Would like opinions on this one please.

I went to a pre-booked hair appointment yesterday, (2 children’s dry trims & a cut and blow with restyle).

I got there for 2 minutes before exactly to be on time but as I walked in the hairdresser (first time meeting - new client of hers) says ‘awww did you not get my message to come for 4.30 instead. I explained no, but that I’d take a walk and come back for then. No issue.

Return for 4.30 and the appointment still runs over until 4.50. They spend 5 mins of this taking pictures assuming for her portfolio.

We sit, (no apology for being late even further) have the haircuts which were great.
I say thank you, how much is it?

Can I pay by card? No, sorry I don’t take card.

Unfortunately I can’t do bank transfer as I’d used all mobile data on recent holiday and if needed to be refreshed. She says we aren’t allowed to give out the WiFi password.

I said I can pay cash, go to nearest machine as I don’t have it on me. Take out enough, return. Hairdresser then says sorry I have no change…. awkward silence

’It’s fine just keep it I don’t have exact cash’
(In hindsight wish I’d said how I’d actually felt which was that I felt obliged to overpay as I had no choice.)

On way home I checked the message I had missed. It was sent an hour before the booked appointment to say ‘will 4.30 work for you today’- which I thought really was inappropriate again.

You are entitled to run a business how you choose however I had explained the cuts we wanted and she never specified a price or that exact cash/change would be needed and that card wasn’t an accepted method of payment.

A real shame as the cuts were great but a horrendous first impression, so sadly I won’t return. She has asked for a review however I’d rather not give one so simply reacted nicely with a heart to the message.

Unprofessional, unfortunately a lot in the industry seem to be like this they never last or make any decent money. My friends and I in the industry have came in after sudden family deaths or straight after births to not let down our clients. I won’t lie 95% of the time it’s reciprocated with fiercely loyal clients but sometimes people just disappear too which they’re entitled to do of course but makes you wish you hadn’t bothered, staying late or not charging for them “forgetting” appointments. What you’re talking about is poor time management. Don’t give a review just ignore.

If you’re not planning on going back, I don’t see the problem in giving a polite but honest review. She’s got a cheek asking for one tbh
