Ive not exercised in years. Ive not been to the gym for even longer. I need to sort myself out.

Are PTs worth the money? It would be for weights and "stuff" because I dont need supervising when running. Its a big monetary commitment.

I was looking at 2 sessions a week. Mainly because I need to make exercising a routine. Is this ok? I could stretch to 3 times a week for a few weeks if that is better?

If I block book and dont like the PT, can I swop to another one? They are employed by the gym, not self employed.

What do they actually do? Do they give you an exercise then watch while you're doing it and tell you if you are doing it wrong? Do they do this for the whole session?

Do they help with diet? My diet is awful and I know I wont lose weight until I sort that out. A meal plan that considers nutrients etc would be fantastic but is that expecting too much?

I booked 12 sessions with my old PT to make sure my form was good and I had a good knowledge how to use all equipment at the gym and to give me a workout plan. Some PTs give nutritional advice.

I think it's well worth it.

I had a PT for a long time and was the strongest i've ever been and looked the best i've ever looked. (moved now and don't have the time i used to)...

They will work with you the whole session, not just supervise. Improve form, motivate, move you up levels as you get stronger. It is well worth it and i would never have done what i did with my PT, and i always already fairly fit... I did two per week generally and found that good enough - you can top up and do the routines in your own time too.

Mine was employed by the gym as their basic rate, but they got a proportion of PT session money as a 'commission' type scenario so worth checking with your gym.

Yes they’re worth it

My PT works at a gym but also privately

He works privately with me and sorts out my nutrition and exercise and we have a dialogue going between visits

I was planning to do just a few sessions but am now eighteen months in and still going. I’ve lost three stone, gone down four dress sizes and am much more confident in the gym and in life. He does help with nutrition too but the main focus is the strength sessions. Yes it is expensive but I see it as an investment in my health.
