A coat like a dryrobe but not a dryrobe

I'm tall with a long torso, long arms and massive forehead. This has made finding coats that fit properly and look good an impossible task.

Anything with a drawstring or waist looks wrong because it sits just under my armpits. The sleeves disappear up to my elbows when I stretch my arms out, and I'm lucky if the hood reaches past my crown, let alone over my face. I have a big face too so those hoods with a drawstring make me look like a Roblox character.

I bought a dryrobe last year and I've fallen in love with it (proud dryrobe wanker). It fits, the hood protects my face, I can wear layers under it, and it feels like slipping into a warm hug. However, I do occasionally want to look smart and it just doesn't lend itself to that unfortunately.

I'd like something soft, roomy, water resistant, fleecy, warm and smart. If anyone can do it then you ladies can.

Seasalt have a good range of coats. You may find something there which suits your needs.

Some lovely coats on their website but they all look a standard fit. I'm hoping someone knows of a brand thay will fit unusually long women.

I wouldn’t worry about your forehead, everyone looks ridiculous with the hood up on a coat. A hat looks better!

As a dry robe replacement - some sort of longline puffer from a decent brand like Barbour should be quite warm?

Depending on budget, try Holland Cooper - their stuff is really long and they have some lovely coats

If you want a dry robe, then you have to buy a dry robe, or an equidry, or a reincoat but finding one that’s roomy, comfortable without a waist and a hood, I doubt it’ll ever look smart.

I love my equidry and live in it during the winter. My friend has a reincoat and this does look a bit smarter as it has a waist drawstring. Have a look at Lemieux as they also do something similar.

Try looking at surfboard ships. I think Weird Fish have some good designs

I think you might just have to resign yourself to not looking very smart, sadly, as a fellow sufferer. I am 5'10 but long in the legs rather than the torso which I agree is easier for shopping as tall brands seem to assume that's the tall shape. But I have a high forehead and also a much larger head generally than average (hats are impossible) so I feel your pain on the hood front. The best coat I found was a long duvet coat from Yours which I have worn for about four years now. It's not super smart but it has a decently sized hood, is reasonably rain proof for getting to work purposes(wouldn't do for a hike) and is definitely smarter than a dry robe. Looks a bit like this though am sure non-plus sized is available:

I do also have a Seasalt coat, but the duvet coat is a lot better for me in cold weather.
