Alternative to Uniqlo heat tech jeggings trousers

Pleasedontdothat · 29/08/2025 13:40

For the last several years I’ve lived in Uniqlo’s heat tech jeggings (?) trousers - they were perfect for throwing on in the morning and were so comfortable but also smart enough to wear for work with a jumper or more structured top. They were pull on but didn’t have bulky elastic or drawstring at the waist so looked quite streamlined. I went on their website to get a couple of pairs for this winter and they’ve stopped doing them (sob)…. The closest equivalent is their ‘easy trouser’ but that looks like tracksuit bottoms and I’m really not keen.

Can anyone suggest an alternative? I live in the country, spend lots of time outside walking the dog and doing stuff with horses but need to go into the office occasionally. I’m not bothered about on trend shapes, I mainly want to be comfortable and warm without resorting to full-on leisure wear ..

Following - I too am distraught that they’ve stopped these amazing products

dickdarstardlymuttley · 29/08/2025 16:49

Same here Confused They were amazing

Pleasedontdothat · 31/08/2025 15:20

If I come across anything that’s remotely similar I’ll update this thread but judging by the results of my search so far they seem to have been pretty unique 😥

Thanks. I’ll do the same. Isn’t it sooooo annoying….

Pleasedontdothat · 31/08/2025 16:34

Thanks @Newmeagain I’ll have a look when they come in store but unless the models are incredibly thin it looks like the new styles will be slouchier and more like loungewear than the old version..

I ordered the warm stretch trousers in a medium which according to the measurements on the website should have been the right size. They were huge and a bit shapeless - I’m going to swap them for a small to see if that makes any difference but so far not optimistic they will be a replacement 😥

I came on to post the same thing - couldn't believe it when i realised theyd stopped selling them! I think they were called ultra stretch leggings so im going to have a look on vinted but not hilding out much hope!

Just coming back to this thread to update with the results of my (so far) fruitless search..

These from Stehmann sounded promising but although they are ok for work, the material is too thin and not warm enough for being outside with the dog and horses in autumn let alone winter. Not too expensive though but still not a perfect alternative (sob).

Then I tried Acai’s max stretch skinny thermal trousers. I’d had high hopes for these but they got sent back - the fleecy lining was lovely but the outer material felt a bit plasticky (more waterproof than I actually wanted so you would only really wear these if you were outside all day) but the real problem was the fit - fine lengthwise, waist, hips, thighs all true to size but they were ridiculously tight round the ankles and the right calf was weirdly baggy, left calf was fine 🤷‍♀️

So I’m still looking ..

Stehmann Ina 740 in Navy - The Perfect Pull On Trouser 29" Leg

The Navy Ina 740 perfect fit, high waisted bengaline trouser, is the new jean. Comfortable enough for golf or to do yoga in, smart enough to wear at work.

I have some fleece lined flared leggings from lovall which I wear at playgrounds etc with my kids! Depends about how you feel about flares though, and the non flared leggings version are also super warm, but definitely leggings rather than trousers.

I cannot believe Uniqlo stopped doing the jeggings. I got some from M&S last year but they’re just wrong and so tight round my knees (I have very slim legs) it actually hurt.

PrimSec · 26/10/2025 16:15

I was coming on to write the exact same post. I've literally lived in the Uniqlo heattech jeggings for years (I have both the thinner and warmer styles, so wear them almost year round). I particularly liked that they didn't actuallly look like jeans if you got the non-denim colours. I've built my wardrobe around them and none of it goes with the new bulky styles! I know skinny is "out", but I've never cared about being on trend.

The closest I've come is Halara jeans, but they're not quite right for my body shape (S were too tight on lower leg and M keep falling down). The fabric looked ok at first, but got surprisingly hot in the sun. They're also much pricier and their returns process is tortuous, so not sure I recommend, but they do have real back pockets like the Uniqlo ones and might suit some of you.

I really am bereft and was hoping MN would have a solution, but looks like there's nothing like them out there!

Vitriolinsanity · 26/10/2025 17:03

I don’t understand Uniqlo’s position. Why would you kill a cash cow like this? Even if you don’t have them in-store, putting them online would cost nothing.

I agree with you PP so much. One buys the regulars in Spring/Summer and the Heatec, which were unbulky for Autumn/Winter. The black is so black they can be worn to work with a jacket and look super-smart, or shoved in wellies to walk the dog.

Well I did find another MN thread:
www.mumsnet.com/talk/style_and_beauty/5341584-please-help-me-to-find-an-equivalent-to-these-discontinued-uniqlo-jeans

On that one there was a recommendation for Simply Be (looked ok, but sizing starts at 10 and I need an 8) and Roman. I've never tried Roman, but looks like there are quite a few jegging options:
www.roman.co.uk/search?q=jeggings

Will give some of those a go and hope they work!

Vitriolinsanity · 26/10/2025 17:34

@primsecill save you the trouble. They do not compare.

PrimSec · 27/10/2025 23:48

I was quite hopeful, so I’d already gone ahead and ordered before seeing your message @Vitriolinsanity

I agree the Stretch Denim Elastic Waist Jegging was absolutely useless, very stiff and not stretchy at all. A shame as it comes in loads of colours.

But the Denim Jersey Leggings… I wouldn’t say they’re the perfect replacement, but they’re the closest I’ve come so far. Only comes in black and sold out of most sizes (petite still has an 8), but nice and soft like the Uniqlo ones and seem to be a very similar cut. I was getting pretty desperate so I’m very glad I can get these to replace the lighter version for now!

Pleasedontdothat · 03/11/2025 19:28

Well, they’re not perfect but I tried Uniqlo’s unisex Ezy jeans. They’re very comfy and the fleece lining is great. They’re not as sleek and flattering as the old version - they’re a bit baggier all over (I suspect this is due to being unisex) and if you’re very small the sizing wouldn’t go down far enough - I’m 10-12 depending on which shop I’m in and I ordered small and could probably have got an xs as the small are quite roomy. They also have a completely redundant drawstring at the waist 🤷‍♀️. I won’t wear them for work but for dog walks, doing stuff on the farm, and wfh they’re good 👍

Calzedonia have thermal jeggings in black - I've bought loads of their trousers before and found they last well and are really warm for winter. They size up smaller than a lot of UK brands though so maybe go up a size if you order.

This pull-on Fleece-lined Trousers (Tall) is quite good. It's a pair of drawstring trousers designed for taller figures (" Tall "), with inner Fleece for warmth and a slightly slimming fit.
This Everlane Dream Pant is also good. Although it may not be specifically designed for outdoor use, the drawstring/elastic waist + slim pant style makes it look "office" enough and "comfortable" enough.
