Has anyone tried one? Are they worth the money? Red light? Green light? Blue light?

Yes I have been using the FOREO FAQ 201 mask for a while now. Has red, blue and green light in sequence. I have seen a marked improvement in the look and tone of my very sensitive (ageing) skin. Calmer, less red, blotchy etc.
Is available on Amazon and Look Fantastic for £359.20 at the moment.

There is an upgraded version FAQ 202 which utilises 7 different types/colours of light but is more expensive. Currently available for £463 on Amazon.

Both quite an investment financially but I am happy with the results to date.

Do you mind me asking roughly how old you are? I mean, under or over (say) 45? I've been thinking about these too, but the people I know who have tried them are a good 15 to 20 years younger than me.

I am 67 in a few weeks time. I have very few actual wrinkles but do have a little Botox to get rid of the no. 1 line between my eyebrows.

Apologies- should have quoted your question in my reply I think.

I really want one of these too. Mostly to get rid of pigmentation (I have lots of freckles).

You'd be better off paying for IPL treatment for freckles. It works really quickly. I doubt an LED mask would make much of a visible difference to pigmentation.

Thank you. That's good to know. I'm even more tempted to invest now!

Ohh okay, thank you. What are LED masks good for?

TheSixthBestOption · 27/08/2025 09:06

The different lights do different things, red stimulates collagen/is anti-aging, blue kills bacteria etc. But the jury is out on whether they make a significant difference to skin and for them to work you need to use them 20 mins every day.

IPL is £170 a session where I am and can completely get rid of freckles if that's what you want. I had a course of 4 and my skin looks dramatically different.

I've wasted my money in the past on expensive creams/gadgets that make maybe a tiny difference but wish I had saved my money and gone for IPL/laser from the start.

Have a Google about IPL and freckles and you can see the difference from the first treatment.

I have the Dr Dennis Gross one. I have fine lines and occasional spots - and regular use has definitely improved both skin concerns for me. It has 3 programmes, red only for ageing, blue only for spots, and both for, well, both!

I like that it only takes 3 mins a day because any longer and I simply wouldn’t do it regularly enough.

CuriousKangaroo · 27/08/2025 09:37

Just read that a PP says 20 mins a day is needed. I read that after 3 mins, the skin doesn’t actually absorb or benefit from more light therapy, which is why I bought the Dr DG one. But I haven’t read the research in detail, so who knows?! I just know that it was on sale so I bought it and it works for me.

Thanks, @CuriousKangaroothats interesting
