Milia removal

Has anyone had these removed? I had one removed about 20 years ago during a facial but when I google it for my area, it is suggesting prices of £85+ and special pens and skin clinics. Years ago mine was removed during a facial at a local salon. Does this still happen?

Had mine removed a few weeks ago along with some red veins....she used electrolysis. I had about 5 on my chin and they've totally disappeared. Cost £100 including red veins.

Easy to remove yourself, warm compress with a washcloth , the longer the better. Then pass a needle through a flame to sterilise it then gently nick the top off and with gentle pressure using your fingers wrapped in tissue , squeeze. Never had scarring and I have very reactive, sensitive skin.

I know I probably shouldn't, but I removed mine myself with a sterile needle.

I had one earlier this year under my eye, I sterilised a needle and removed it in seconds with ease, not probably what you should do though.

It's exactly what everyone did before we were all hoodwinked into being told we needed to go to the beautician to get it done.

supercalifragilistic123 · 26/08/2025 08:11

I removed them myself too... although more have come back 🙃

When you say sterilise the needle with a flame, do you wait for it to cool down? Is there another way to sterilise a needle?

May I ask where you had this done - was it a dermatologist or a beautician - I am in London and desperate to get a small cluster of milia removed as DIY removal not working anymore but I have no idea what sort of place I should be looking for. Thanks

Ahh, I just dug mine out with tweezers 🤷 no sterilising, just squeezed it after to make it bleed. All fine.
I would probably recommend the sterile needle route though OP! But yes you can easily do it yourself (unless it's 2mm from your eye or something - don't stab yourself).

Mine is right on my top lash line, v close the eye. I've been wondering what to do. Would those saying sort yourself do one so close to your eye. My eyelashes are growing weirdly now but I'm skint and can't afford to pay someone 🙈

LavaHoover · 28/08/2025 13:47

@IceCreamWoes I would not use a needle that close to my eye. If you can't afford to have it done professionally, I would just leave it. They're harmless. Don't risk your eyesight for vanity.

PiggyPlumPie · 28/08/2025 14:01

My waxing lady gets mine out if I ask her nicely. She seems to get far to much pleasure from it though.

Just pass it through the flame .

My husband had something similar and he went to the GP about it. They said soak a wash cloth in hot water and hold it to it twice a day for a good 5 mins. Took 3 weeks and it just dissolved the top layer off and came away. No prodding with a needle near eyes obviously.

I used glycolic acid (the ordinary 7% one) for a couple of weeks. Every second or third day, not every day, and that got rid of mine.

White spirit/rubbing alcohol will sterilise.

I had one on my lashline for several months. Hated it. I just lightly rubbed my eye with a warm wet flannel twice a day and it eventually rose to the suface and one day was gone. If they’re elsewhere on my face I normally get them out with a needle as others have said. I get one or two fairly big ones on my jaw or cheekbone every year and don’t believe in going to the salon for it.
