How to clean make-up brushes

I always just used shower gel or hand wash, soaped them up until no make up left on, rinsed then dried
I did ruin a clinique foundation brush but only after a few years so probably past it's best anyway
I bought some isoclean which claims just spray on then wipe. They don't end up clean though not like the soap and water clean

Works a treat

ISO clean do sprays and liquids that you can put into a little pot and swish your brushes through. The liquid cleans better but the spray is good for in between thorough cleansing and it sanitises

for a really thorough cleaning use a clarifying shampoo or something like Dr Bronner. But you must dry them lying on their side. Not upright as you want the ferrule to dry properly

I buy cheap bottles of brush cleaner and they work a treat. There’s a chain of beauty shops that have stores in Outlet Centres. Can’t remember the name, sorry.

I used baby shampoo for years, it does dry them out a little. I have just purchased a bar of brush cleaner from iso clean which came with a bumpy little device to swirl the brush against and really foam up the soap. I have found it works really well. I bought a plain one as have very sensitive skin but they do lots of pretty colours and scents.

Cleaned my brushes today in a bowl with liquid Persil & rinsed well. Put them outside in the sun to dry, they’re like new.

Same, I use baby shampoo usually, then let them dry with the brush bit angled down so the water doesn’t run up into the glue, then add mesh covers to reshape them

i am precious about my makeup brushes but they cost me a lot!

in between cleans I just buff them on a microfibre brush towel to get any pigment out

Fairy Liquid anti bac. The blue one. Game changer.

I’ve always used baby shampoo to clean mine and they have lasted years!

I did mine last week. Used Boots baby soap and warm water. Once they'd all been washed I put some cold water in the bowl and rinsed them out and then laid them out on a tea towel on the garden table to dry in the sun. Have come up lovely.

Probably a very unpopular opinion but I put mine in a laundry bag on a delicate cycle with woolite. They come out as new. I dry them on a clean hand towel on the radiator propped up against the wall, bristles facing down. It works perfectly and doesn't damage brushes. I've been doing this for 20 years without issue.
