Shoes for ugly feet to go with nice daytime dresses?

I never wear dresses. The problem is not the dress, it's the shoes to go with it.

I have big, ugly feet with bunions.

  • can't wear flipflops
  • can't wear strappy sandals

everything else seems to rub/ hurt after walking the shortest distance.

Can't do dresses with flats/ crocs/ trainers/ birkenstocks...

Someone must have the same problem/ found an answer to this??

could you wear ballet pump type shoes? i know you said no flats, but why not flats?

NormaSnorks · 29/05/2008 15:52

I always think flat shoes with skirts and dresses look so, well, WRONG really... also I am only 5 ft 6" so not terribly tall, and a bit of heel seems to make people look better in a dress?

can you wear a wedge heel?
have you slim ankles?

if yes to both try Monsoon for closed-toe wedge espadrilles with ankle ties (no longer on website but pic here)

if ankles less than perfect try these

Fly have some good wedges too - try Schuh.

yes i see your point. i am only 5 ft 4 so can understand well!
how about espadrilles? i have some i got from primark of all places but it was years ago. the front part is not stretchy, but comfy and they have a small heel. i will have a look for some in a sec.

www.ropeysoles.com/womens_product_page.php?item_code=WEHighheel01
this sort of thing.

Think a wide-fitting kitten heel would look good. or maybe some lowish mules?

Next do lots of wide fittings.

have a look at shops that stock wide fitting shoe brand sandpiper shoes. they have some nice shoes. shoe tailor and viva la diva do some nice shoes. www.wideshoes4u.co.uk and www.medissashoes.com. good range of shoes a bit pricey but worth it for comfort. flat shoes are a real no no for bunions they put pressure on them according to the podiatrist. as are any shoes which have seams which go over the bunions. Am a fellow bunions sufferer ... can you tell. Am about to have mine done. also they can give you an insole that is reasonably discreet to take the pressure of your feet a bit if you get refered to a podiatrist. I thought they would be huge but the ones she showed me were not bad just a raised profile on part of it.
