Best moisturiser for thin, older skin

Specifically thin skin on the legs. My poor mum has very thin skin that is prone to damage - she's already taking collagen. What would result in minor bruising for others results in cuts that need dressings and bandages. I'm thirty years younger but worried there could be an hereditary element. The skin on my legs is very dry and I'm rubbish at remembering to regularly moisturise.

Any recommendations please? Apparently vitamin C can be beneficial.

I think its about moisturising regularly, twice a day
Try E45

My skin went very dry after the menopause. I could get way with a very light lotion before.
Now I have big E45 500ml tub with dispenser for after a shower. I sometimes use Cerave too for especially dry areas. I find these really moisturise well and my skin feels lovely after.

I do have some Cerave and used it today. My mum has also spent weeks frying on a Mediterranean beach annually which is probably a contributory factor. If I'm somewhere hot I use factor 50 and stay in the shade.

Post meno and the skin thins considerably - and gets really dry

Hence you find older people tend to shower less - I know ive dropped to 5 days instead of 7

Its my lower legs that are really dry, but Im lazy AND I hate the feel of lotions so I just use Skin so Soft to take away the itchiness of the dryness

Tbh I've never been good at applying body moisturiser. I use better quality shower stuff these days and do try to remember. I'm often in a rush, especially if I've not slept well and am tired. I might get more Cerave - it was expensive iirc.

I have personally found that olive oil is the best and most soothing moisturiser for the body. (It’s a little heavy for the face.) It doesn’t work in the same way as commercial, branded lotions and creams and you can’t expect the same immediate impact. But with consistent use it almost magically strengthens and improves your skin. Nicest with the addition of a few drops of a suitable essential oil. You need to take the time to massage it in well - which in itself helps to exfoliate and improve circulation; both of which are beneficial.

The rest of my family have also been using it for years.

She might benefit from being prescribed an emollient such as Dermol, for both washing and moisturising after drying, especially as she’s prone to leg ulcers.
