I only ever wear casual outfits and trainers - can I have a formula?

I get overwhelmed knowing what to wear even though I basically wfh / do school drop off / and teach arts to adults - so no need to ever wear anything other than fully casual.

do I need some kind of formula or “uniform” that I can vary? I never know where to start.

Trousers and flat shoes (trainers) are my preference. I usually wear wide leg jeans with trainers and a jumper but it’s so boring! In the summer I’ve swapped trousers for Bermuda shorts and t-shirts / linen shirts.

looking ahead to Autumn what would be a good idea for a few key outfits I can make variations of?

Also I need new trainers- what ones should I buy? I want something that will be on trend through 25/26.

This might be the answer to your prayers:

Community Clothing

What’s excellent about them, from your point of view, is that they make a very limited number of simple, well made things - so you wouldn’t find yourself scrolling for days to make a choice.

If you’re only wearing jeans you must be craving the variety of different fabrics. Below I’ve linked CC’s cords. You’ll see they also make chinos (and denim skirts.) By next spring there will probably be some shorts too.

So, pick your trousers; pick a shirt or t shirt from their range; add a jumper if cold; add a coat.

Amazingly they also offer a tiny selection of trainers made by a legendary maker.

(I honestly don’t work for them.)

(Yes, you could do all of this via Uniqlo, which would be cheaper. But not as virtuous. And the clothes wouldn’t look lovely for as long.)

Looking to the coming colder season, consider a change of fabric. So still the wide leg bottoms vibe with trainers or boots.

Would it be worth looking at a pair of lovely wool or corduroy trousers in different colours. then a range of knitwear to top them off with. Also consider outerwear to update your existing pieces so a trench coat, cropped jackets, etc etc.

Trainers everyone seems to be wearing are adidas or new balances. Many are quite narrow and may need sizing up.

Thanks, I like the idea of trousers on a range of fabrics.

With trainers I have deliberately not jumped on the adidas wagon as they are so ubiquitous. I generally wear Dad trainers, reeboks or puma skate sneakers.
