Botox - not lasting very long

I am sure this has been asked before but any advice is welcome!

I had botox (11s and crow's feet) for the first time on 5 April. I could see it wearing off so had it again on 20 June and when I looked in the mirror this morning I could see it was wearing off again.

Is it likely to be me, and it just wears off quickly or could it be her technique/product and I best to try someone else?

Thanks for any advice from the experts out there!

Not an expert but have been doing my number 11s for a few years.

Am surprised you were able to get Botox so close together as my practitioner says not under four months (and checks). I think it can be less effective too close together.

Mine offers a two weekly check, that's the point at which to put more in if you want it to last a bit longer. I dont ever get more but know it would make the effect tighter and therefore last longer.

It could be to do with the solution they are using as not all Botox is the same, it's a brand name like Hoover and different places use different products, some not as good.

I do find mine lasts longer now than before as I succeed in destroying the muscle...and also because I haven't frowned properly for a few years now so am not making the problem worse.

And yes it does have different effects for different people so you could just be unlucky.

There are also different types of Botox. Some better than others

PollyannaGladGame · 06/08/2025 17:31

This is helpful - thank you.

I did have the 2 week top up first time too! She never mentioned not to have it again so soon, I am ultra cautious so wouldn't have done that.

I might wait four months and then try somewhere else

Where are you op? I go to a doc in the with west and have had it a few years. It lasts 3 months each time then I can see a gentle fading over a month then it’s redone.
my friend who goes to a salon type place mentions hers wears off much faster. I think my practitioner is better!
op if you are far south west I can recommend someone.

Mine wears off quick and I have big doses .. but I exercise a lot and think this speeds up how it metabolises . I used to get it every 12 weeks .. but have found leaving longer in between more effective . I also have my top up at 3 weeks instead of two . Sometimes it works better than others .

nuttyslackster · 06/08/2025 17:40

I was surprised how quickly mine wears off too, and I go to a very reputable clinic. I only get about 6 weeks ‘full freeze’ before my movement starts to come back. However I can still get away with only having it every 5/6 months as the 11 lines have disappeared even though I can frown again.

PollyannaGladGame · 06/08/2025 17:44

I'm north west but thank you for the offer!

I go to a nurse (SRN) as I am nervous about anything like this so assumed there would be less chance of it fucking up! Maybe in need to ask around more.

Interesting about the excerise!

I started late (47) so the 11s are embedded, they don't fully dissappear at all so it doesn't seem to take a lot until they reappear - maybe time for a fringe! The lines around my eyes fully go and don't return the same

Exercise definitely affects it unfortunately!

Waitingfordoggo · 06/08/2025 18:25

I had it done once and it barely made any difference, and the small difference it did make wore off within two-three weeks. I exercise 6 days a week and the practitioner (who is a friend) said this was most likely the reason for metabolising it so quickly. So it seems I need to choose between being flabby but smooth faced, and being muscular but wrinkly 😂 I’ve gone for the latter as exercise obviously has other benefits besides aesthetic.

Liliwen · 06/08/2025 18:28

Apparently as you get it done more and more, it lasts longer. My practitioner said if I go every 3 or 4 months to start, I should then be able to reduce it to 6 months. I got mine done in June and it’s wearing off too but i don’t mind at the moment as I look less wrinkled but natural with it. I’ll probably be back to my fully wrinkled self by September though!

MadKittenWoman · 06/08/2025 19:44

I get my 11s done every 6 months. Over time there are less and less noticeable as I’m not really using those particular muscles.

I swear by zinc OP (there have been studies on this)

start high dose a week before and continue a week after

definitely change practitioner though

thestory · 06/08/2025 19:48

I’ve found this, earlier this year I was exercising a lot and chalked it down to that. But most recently I am not and within five weeks of the top up I had quite a bit of movement back. I’m going to try elsewhere.
