Experiences of filler for naso labial folds please

I’ve made an appointment for a consultation on Friday for filler in my horrible naso labial folds. I’m starting to get a bit nervous now and am hoping some Mumsnetters would be willing to share their own (positive or negative) experiences.

Ive gone for a reputable practitioner (a dental surgeon with a huge amount of aesthetic experience) and it’s a no commitment consultation. But I’m getting scared!

Bumping just in case there’s anyone around today with experience.

It was the most amazing and instantaneous treatment I’ve ever had ! My dentist did it- she also does aesthetics. She put the tiniest nick af the bottom of the fold and slid a incy wincy cannula up the crease and hey presto ! Lasts about 12 months for me .

That’s amazing!! Thank you so much for sharing. How bad were your lines? I fear mine might be too deep. I’m so pleased to hear that you had a great experience. I’ve done so much research online and there are so many scary stories 🙈

I had mine done a couple of years ago now. The filler lasted about 18 months. Looked amazing when I first had it done but now after two years I think it’s migrated a bit and bunches up a bit weirdly when I smile - one cheeks looks a lot bigger than the other. I also feel like it has added a lot of weight to my lower face.

An alternative is a Botox ‘facelift’ but I haven’t had one myself and don’t know how effective it is.

Ofher people like pp have great experiences with it so I think it’s hit or miss.

Instantly takes years off, minimal discomfort and worth every penny.

foodtoorder · 07/08/2025 16:54

Also lasts a good twelve months so excellent value for money, five years after starting Botox and filler (only cheeks, naso and marionette lines every 1onths ) I have had no issues, no lumps or migration. Had a small bruise once.

Xccccc · 07/08/2025 16:56

I agree , it was quick and not too painful, mine is still in place a year later and it made such a difference .

Xccccc · 07/08/2025 16:59

Also to add , my lines were deep so the difference it made was massive.

Oh this is what I’m frightened of, that it will migrate and look weird. Could you not get it dissolved?

Ooh this gives me hope, my lines are pretty deep, they make my whole face look droopy.

I use Botox but swerve fillers as I’m concerned about reports it hangs around for a very long time. I find a good source of info is the tweakments guide website.

AnotherNaCha · 12/08/2025 14:09

Did you do it OP?

No. He was really good but told me that the improvement could be very minimal. He has emailed me a treatment plan outlining what he’d do if I was to go ahead. It would entail 2ml of filler in the mid face and pre-auricular area at a cost of £645. Then if I wanted, at a second visit, he’d further soften the nasolabial lines with a further 2ml at another cost of £645. He warned that the results may be modest…I think I’m too far gone for filler to work for me. So disappointed! But glad he was honest.

I did get Botox in my ‘11’s though which has had a really nice refreshing effect so I’m pleased with that. Can’t stop looking at my horrible, droopy lines though!

Wow! That’s expensive! He sounds very professional though. I’m going to my local “girl” tomorrow for the first time and it’s £150! Worried now… mine are bad I think but guess it’s subjective.
Great you’re happy with the Botox though

Haha, it’s filler to lessen the look of those lines that run from nose to mouth

MrsMitford3 · 13/08/2025 21:47

Thank you @AnotherNaCha heading in to being MOG and feeling a bit tempted...

JulietSierra · 13/08/2025 21:50

He was excellent to be fair. And I’m pleased he was so honest. I think a lot of practitioners would just do it regardless. He also said the aim should never be to smooth out the folds, rather to add volume where it’s been lost further up the face in order to try to soften the folds. I’d have hated for him to just inject a load of filler into my lines only for them to looked puffed up and all smooth.
Think what I wanted was my thirty year old face back and there’s no amount of filler giving me that!!

AnotherNaCha · 15/08/2025 19:49

Had my cheap naso labial filler and it’s great… well apart from nearly passing out from the sensation of the cannula 🤢 and having a massive bruise on one side. Maybe mine weren’t very deep so that’s why she could do it… she wouldn’t touch my marionette lines though, said they’d look unnatural

JulietSierra · 15/08/2025 20:19

Really pleased for you, I hate mine. Did she put the filler in the lines or further up the face?
