Heavy brows after Botox

Hello, looking for advice please. I’ve had Botox on and off for years. The first time I had it, about 20 years ago, my brows became heavy and my eyebrows lowered. After this, I made sure to tell every clinician that I went to that this could be a problem for me. It’s never happened since, I guess because they only put a minute does in my forehead after I explain.

Went to a new place in December. I told the clinician about my heavy brow issue and she advised me not to have Botox my forehead. That was fine. Went back in mid July, and had to see someone else as she wasn’t available. New person said she would just put a very small does in my forehead (mentioned the heavy brow thing). Unfortunately, within two weeks my brows had lowered substantially such that my brows look odd.

I went back today for my post treatment check-up. Saw a different clinician and explained what had happened
. He said, well, that’s why we get you to sign a waiver form. He said they couldn’t do anything about it. I look ten years older! He said that the clinician had put only 25 units in my forehead, and that this was very little.

Just got home and googled, and 25 units in the forehead is not a small dose. I am so cross. It says on my notes that heavy brows could be an issue, hence asking for tiny does or nothing at all in the forehead if this is there advice.

Would you write to complains? This is a high end high street aesthetics company.

I’m sorry. I get exactly the same issue so I stopped having Botox. Even a plastic surgeon made my brows heavy. Im
not sure what you can do other then wait til it wears off and never go back there

I had this too 3 times. It's been done outside the 'lift' perameters. My first time was so bad my eyelids touched my eyelashes.

Each time it was explained why it happens and then it happened twice again.

I think after a certain age the muscles move too.

What area did you get?

I absolutely can only have my between eye frown marks done now.

You can get them to 'tick' up the outside but it barely shows. I had to wait it out.

Morrisdancer403010 · 06/08/2025 18:42

It's been injected incorrectly and or too many units given. Had the same issue myself. What works for me is minimum units 1st time, then back for the top up later. However the response of youve signed the disclaimer is awful. Go somewhere else.
Editing to say. If the frown lines have also been done, 25 units for the entire thing is minimal

Did you meet the prescriber? Was the Botox prescribed to YOU?

If not report them to the public health and the MHRA.

Silkshirts · 06/08/2025 23:04

@EveryOtherNameTakenit was not 25 units in all areas, that was just the forehead apparently (I was told today). I had the forehead, frown lines between eyebrows and the lines at the side of my eyes.

@foodiefilcan I ask what do you mean by did I meet the prescriber? Also, was the Botox prescribed to me? I met the injector during my visit in mid-July, and she just injected the Botox.

I’ve had an email from the company this evening as my complaint was escalated to the clinical director apparently. They have suggested that I return and see the injector who did the Botox. Not sure how this is going to help me, as the person that I saw today told me that there is nothing that can be done…😕

Botox is a licensed medicine and must be prescribed for you personally by a doctor. It can be a very quick online consultation but unless the injector is qualified to prescribe you should have seen someone to get a prescription.

They don't just have unlimited vials of the stuff, if it wasn't prescribed for you where did they get it? Could be fake, out of date, etc.

DoodleLug · 06/08/2025 23:26

Oh, it looks like law has changed and you must have an in person consultation to be prescribed, not an online one.

PithyTaupeWriter · 06/08/2025 23:28

I’ve had this issue before and it can be corrected, my injector just added a few more units elsewhere in my forehead and brow region (sorry for the poor explanation, I can’t think of a better way to explain it). A very experienced practitioner should be able to fix it. I’ve not had that issue since.

Sounds like you’ve had illegal Botox. It is a prescription only medicine and unless your provider is a medical professional with a license to prescribe to you then it’s illegal. Tell them that - no waiver form makes it legal for someone who isn’t able to prescribe medicines to prescribe medicines.

25 units is a lot for someone who is susceptible to brow drop. Once you’re over 40 it becomes much harder to treat the forehead.
The person who treated you didn’t listen and didn’t read your notes properly - take plenty of photos and videos and keep escalating. I would be pushing for a refund for the forehead or a credit to be used on the eyes or brows (or a brow lift once it’s worn off)

DuchessDandelion · 07/08/2025 08:20

That's awful treatment @Silkshirts - i agree you should push back.

Can you say if it was the skin clinic you used? I'm considering using them so it was I'd like a warning!

Silkshirts · 07/08/2025 08:46

It was Sisu, so a reputable high street company. I don’t think the Botox would have been illegal from them. However, I absolutely intend to escalate. The Injector clearly did not listen to me. As someone said, 25 units is a lot for someone who has flagged brow drop in the past as a potential issue.

Nurses can also prescribe. Is it a nurse lead practice you went to?

foodiefil · 07/08/2025 09:53

I’ve googled them. They seem quite cheap.

You still need to meet the prescriber.

Illegal doesn’t mean counterfeit or dodgy - it’s illegal if you weren’t prescribed it.

nurses dentists doctors etc can prescribe though
